It's a juvenile act. I was told early on to never boo the opposition and I've pretty much stuck with that.

Ditto. I don't do the Mexican wave, but that's more a personal lesson or philosophy I was taught. But I like a bronks cheer as an emotional expression as a collective of people's opinions about a sports persons of umpires output.

Yep. Over analysis. The reverse... Do cheers of politicians in parliament come because of sporting attributes?
There is sport. There is opinion or politics. I don't see a cross over.

I was sceptical about the Goodes booing excuse provided by the Hawks supporters in front of me (though it must be said they weren't participating). Seems other areas of the crowd were behaving poorly.
