Re: Operation get Jake Carlisle
Carlisle not doing a lot to dispel the appearance of being a mercenary flake.
I'm sure wherever he lands can treat themselves to a couple of blinders a year from him against crap opposition, which might just help alleviate some of their ire at his twenty other undependable showings.
The pressure on him to perform - regularly - ain't exactly gonna ease after he inks a healthy deal.

I just glad Dangerfield didn't nominate Hawthorn, and that the deal got done early to stop them seizing an opportunity!

They are probably still trying to figure out a way into that deal that lands them Aush for a third rounder.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Re: Operation get Jake Carlisle
I would be gutted if this deal went through.
I can just see Carlisle on the dais in the brown and yellow with a premiership medallion round his neck.
North giving 15 for Anderson seems a little crazy and is the cornerstone of the whole trade working.
I hope the saints just cough up pick 5

Hawthorn coach Alistair Clarkson has said he expects Jake Carlisle to get to St.Kilda.

Re: Operation get Jake Carlisle
Hopefully we are now being proactive and getting involved in the Carlisle trade - St Kilda are going to have to pony up something substantial (if not pick 5) to secure Carlisle from Essendon. Would Essendon accept pick 11 on its own from St Kilda if we traded up to pick 5 and gave St Kilda Hrovat and Essendon Talia (with maybe Essendon's 3d round pick coming back to us)? So something like this:
Essendon - gain pick 11/Talia, lose Carlisle/pick 44
St Kilda - gain Carlisle/Hrovat, lose pick 5
Dogs - gain pick 5/pick 44, lose Hrovat/Talia/pick 11

Talia met with Essendon last week, so hopefully interested.

GVGjr was pointing out the possibility of Essendon trading 23 & 25 for pick 8 with GWS as its better for GWS. Could we trade Talia for that pick 8 and giving them pick 11 (3 spot upgrade to us) and also pick 44 (the same trade above less Hrovat). So we could keep Hrovat and pick 8 or lose Hrovat for 3 spots to get to pick 5??
Hrovat might be better bait on his own unless there's a standout 5th best player that's a monty to get to 5.

Like it - all good fun spit-balling.
Would also prefer to hold onto Hrovat if possible as I think he has not reached anywhere near his ceiling. But I am a pragmatist and we simply can't keep stockpiling so many under 180cm players on the list (with McPherson another likely addition this season).

I love this time of year, especially when I pick one right. How about we take this one further...
Dogs: Pick 8, Pick 44, Jon Giles - Talia, Minson, Pick 11
GWS: Picks 23 & 25 (academy picks), Minson - Pick 8, and Steak Knives
Essendon: Pick 11 (8), Talia, Steak Knives - Picks 23 & 25, Pick 44, Giles
Hrovat on the market for a pick or player (plus pick 30??). His salary and Minson's salary circa $650,000. thats good coin to entice a player. Aish, Gardiner? Etc.

Hmmm. Tayte Pears as a back up tall? But if Minno goes and frees up salary, we'd need a ruck.

Pears is the same height as Jack Macrae... and Macrae would be a better key defender. Keep looking Dman!
