He could obviously punch with more aggression than anyone, but being smaller and with a smaller reach than many opponents he needed to protect himself first. Throwing fists around with a good technical defence is an open invitation to KO or TKO. Hall has size, weight, reach and long term boxing proficiency (presumably including defence and aggression and measuring them right). That's a pretty good advantage.
Tyson is a terrific example of the Fighter V the Boxer. He had no sense of timing but flailed his fists around like a threshing machine and was as hard as a cat's head. He was genuinely scary but once he had lost the mystique was gone and good boxers knew they could pick their way through the punches and they would win.
Have you been reading those Roddy Doyle books again, Dougal!?

    Richmond's Biggest trade regret

    1. JORDAN MCMAHON FOR PICK 19

This goes down as one of the all-time trade regrets. McMahon was a half-back with a nice left boot, with his Tiger highlight a goal after the siren to defeat Melbourne in 2009.

But Richmond paid a huge price for the Bulldogs backman in the form of pick 19, which the Dogs used on a promising midfielder named Callan Ward. He played 60 games for the Dogs before being poached by GWS, but the Bulldogs received a compensation pick which they used to recruit Jack Macrae. McMahon, meanwhile, was delisted in 2010.

This malaise started earlier than that. Darren gasper was part of the salary cap squeeze that contributed to their rein of 9th place finishers for a good decade

Oh and not picking buddy Franklin . Tambling instead .2004 draft

Some interesting points here and lessons to be learnt

They had a big clean out at end of 2009 where Dustin Martin was picked . Off top of my head 14 players were delisted.

INJURY-CURSED former Bulldog Lukas Webb is eyeing a second AFL chance with Carlton.

The 23-year-old midfielder has accepted an offer to train with the Blues leading up to the national, pre-season and rookie drafts.

Webb fractured his neck in a VFL game mid-2018 – but didn't find out until after playing the match out – then suffered a broken fibula and syndesmosis damage to an ankle at training this year.

He missed almost three months with that latest setback but returned late in the season to win 30 or more disposals three times in his last five appearances.

However, the Bulldogs parted ways with Webb after 24 games in five seasons.

For some context, a spot on the board’s worth anything between $0 and $100k p.a.

A position as CEO is worth anywhere between $500k and $1M p.a.

There’s no comparison and we’d have never stood in his way. (Mind you, being appointed to our board wouldn’t have done his resume any harm and would have removed any doubts about us not rating him highly post his removal as our CEO years ago.)

Good luck to him. There may be a HB spot there for him which is the best football he's played at AFL level.
