I'm sure if he was honest with himself he'd appreciate that in his first couple of seasons he probably got some opportunities that others may have thought belonged to them. That's what happens with top picks, they get given opportunities.

He seems like a nice enough guy, and he probably could have played a few more games with us but I get why he didn't. Best of luck to him.

I agree. Liked him and wanted him to succeed, but sometimes the penny has to drop and you have to adjust to what the team/coach wants. He couldn't do that.

I liked them both as players and wish them well. Both contributed and I’m glad they are both still exploring opportunities to develop their careers. Our loss.

But it’s a new season and time to move on. Jones and Lobb are players that the game plan lacked during the last five years so I am anticipating a top four finish. Looking at the suggestions for teams for round one I might find fourth disappointing.

Josh is a talented footballer but doesn't have the physicality for the top level.

Like he did with us, he'll probably have a handfull of games where he kicks a bag but will largely fluctuate between afl and vfl like a bungy jumper before finishing up at vfl level. He's still young but you don't often see players turn around their physicality. You have it or you don't.

He'll play that 3rd forward role better than Brown and is much better suited as a decoy because of his talent. He does need silver service though.

I wish him well but we're packed for key forwards so it was a win-win to move him on.

Speaking to some Melbourne people re Schache.

He's playing at Casey, most think he will purely be back up.

TBH I think he would have had more chance at Essendon, who weirdly took Wiedemann off Melbourne's hands

It's does seem odd, they've basically swapped Weidemann for Schache, which I think is a slight downgrade.
Maybe they figured a change would be good for them.

He just needed to get out of our system. Can see him at Seymour 2024.

Yeah, I'd be happy to see Cordy (and Fergus Greene) play 22 games.
