I imagine its standard practice if you're a decent suburban club to be in the ear of any AFL player you have a loose connection with. Especially the ones who are a chance to be delisted/retire in the next two seasons.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Ilija Grgic: Ex-Footscray player sells industrial warehouse property
Former AFL footballer Ilija Grgic has handballed his Footscray warehouse property to an unlikely buyer.
A family is set to move into the trendy industrial space at 151 Ballarat Road, which had served as the ex-ruckman’s office for his building, construction and development business.
He lined up for Footscray, West Coast and Essendon during his 87-game career, but has since hung up the boots for a career in the property game with his company, Keyway.
Bond Estate Agents director Lee Marks said the buyers planned to use the unique property as a residence, while also running an unusual business from the former mechanics garage, after snapping it up for $850,000.
“The buyers have a racing car simulation business they use to train drivers, so they will set that up in the space as well,” he said.
“They had been looking for something like this for quite some time and said this just ticked all the boxes.”
Mr Marks said a combination of the property’s rustic look, location and the shop-living arrangement sealed the deal for the new owners.
He said while the property was configured as an office, the existing conference room could be easily converted into a bedroom.
“They might need to add some extra partitions to create another bedroom or two to get it set up as more of a living space,” Mr Marks added.
The property already features a bathroom, kitchen, courtyard and carport.
“I had about 100 people inspect the property. It attracted everyone from hairdressers, tattooists and car enthusiasts,” Mr Marks said.
“There’s a pretty high demand for warehouse spaces and warehouse-style living. Some people are tired of the normal cookie-cutter home and want something different but still functional.”
Grgic told Property Confidential he and business partner Vlad Kennedy had put “a lot of love and attention” into transforming the once-rundown building into their dream headquarters, decked out with personal touches including a bright red motorbike.
He said his team had now outgrown the office and was looking to upsize.

Re: Following our ex's...................
Jake Stringer was forced off the track early on Thursday and headed for scans on a lower leg issue which continues to frustrate the forward.
The 26-year-old was only beginning to return back to full fitness after an interrupted pre-season campaign, where he has shed some weight in order to spend more time in the Essendon engine room.

There's an interview up now, Achilles issue. Has to stay off it for two weeks.

For his skin folds sake, I hope he stays off the Zinger burgers during his rest period.

To be fair to Jake, I did see the interview and he looked much trimmer than he presented in his post injury 2020.
I think I would like to see Jake play some really good footy, but then I can't reconcile that with him being at Essendon.
Jake is probably in that category of almost could be, but he doesn't get through niggles like good players are able to do.

I couldn't agree with this more strongly. That being said, I think Jake is just too much of a boofhead for his output to match his potential.

The talent to boofhead correlation has always been high. Professionalism of modern day sport has detracted so much from the talented boofhead.

I'm happy to see him never play good consistent footy ever again, because of the way he **** on the club through his behaviour and the fact he now plays for the most reprehensible club in the league.

I can't really argue with that. Perhaps I am just a forgiving soul at heart.

It's a good way to live your life but I just can't cop it with Stringer. From playing up his hammy in his last game with us in Ballarat, to the rumours of his behaviour towards Tom Boyd, the cheating, the school girl, and then to play for Essendon. Can't stand him.

Re: Following our ex's...................
Speaking of our problem children, the life of Brian has just played out its latest chapter. The papers are reporting that a three-time premiership AFL player has found himself convicted of assault after poking a security guard in the side of the nose at Crown Casino. Brian Lake, 38, a former Western Bulldogs then Hawthorn star, pleaded guilty to assault in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday and was fined $900.
Magistrate Timothy Bourke said it was a “very low level assault” that occurred at Southbank on September 26, 2019. “There is no evidence the victim suffered a physical injury,” he said.
It does sound like Brian was a little unlucky, the "poke on the nose being just that", without any injury being sustained. Although facing up to a miffed Brian would not have been fun for the security person involved.

He was fined $1200 by the local council for not keeping his nature strip in good order.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I guess he's never had the mow the coach's lawns to get a game.
