He'll rip B grade apart. Inside and outside the contest, he'll be so strong and just getting the footy for fun.

Could be heaps of reasons , can’t train could be one.
    His old club maybe ?
Isn’t taking it serious anymore and just wants to play for fun. ?
    Close to home ?
After playing AFL for years since turning 18 I would think a lot of players just want to go back to enjoying the game and playing for fun.

It's changed a lot since I wrapped up in 2010, in those days only the biggest school teams really attracted the cream of the ex-AFL players, and some teams in B-grade had one or two - maybe. It was really good, fun and quick footy.

Now B-grade is about as good if not better than what A-grade was in the late nineties and early 00s (really educated guess). It'd be miles ahead of when I last played because the private school networks (and university establishment networks) catch the best city and suburbs talent and give them all jobs. These are the same guys who went to elite program schools, may have hit an AFL list at one point, or at least got invited to train with a VSFL team as a minimum. Guns everywhere, and they're all quick as **** in B-Grade ammos now.

The A-grade teams are completely stacked over and above of that. I know Happy Days doesn't respect it as good footy, and I am an acolyte of his, but they stockpile amazing footballers who are even quicker than the B-Grade kents.

So after all that, the reason Toby is playing B-Grade is because Old Ivanhoe gave him a better offer in an unpaid competition.....

Thanks Jee, I have lost touch with it, especially since I moved away from Toorak Park area when I watched Old Xavs regularly.

I feel like I’ve been misquoted. I don’t respect the institution of VAFA private school football and the implication that it is somehow relevant to becoming CEO of the AFL, but they’re pretty good at the actual playing part.

Of course there’s no way to check if I’ve actually been misquoted.

I played amateurs back in 1980 for a couple of years, it was a struggle for clubs to survive or even get players.
Then you could travel all over metro Melbourne each week, no one was paid, I was 17 no licence and you would play all the way out to Mornington peninsula from Footscray, you relied on older players taking you.
Back then you had the FDL and VFA to compete with who payed players and were confined to the western suburbs in juniors.
It wasn’t an elite competition back then and players in VFL back then came from their original clubs , none of this going to private schools to get picked up.
It was better then as no matter how much the family struggled it was a way out for young kids in a poor family.
I hate the way the VAFA has gone.

Only a narc (Aza) would go back and verify it.

This song was written specifically about what Cal did to me when he left.

And if I hear one more person say he left because we low balled him, I'll spew up!

He left because GWS offered him more than anyone else could or should.
