Players to be free agents would've needed to play 7 years for GWS. I'm assuming their absence from that list means there's none yet.

Rory Thompson might be worth a look - hasn't really kicked on in the last year or so but he is a good size and had good mobility.

Not too sure what the Hawks will do BT, up until the end of last season most of us would have said Mitchell was a monty to stay.

Tony Sheahan (SEN) reported that Kelly from GWS is being hotly pursued by Melbourne clubs with Norf apparantly leading the charge with an offer of $8.1m over 9 years.

    That's obscene.

He's a good young player, but that's a significant amount of money for someone who isn't a proven game-changer.

Agreed. Very good player but not elite but clearly North think they can get him there.
I guess players are worth what the market dictates though but it's a long contract that is probably heavily front loaded.

I think this is a clear indication that North are going to try and load up again for a tilt in a couple of years.

It's slightly less than we offered Boyd. These types of deals are going to become the norm over the next 5 years. We really were the catalyst for this. If you want a particular player, and North need a highly skilled, pacy mid then you need to go harder than everyone else, particularly when you're unfashionable and at the start of a rebuild.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Wouldn't say we were the catalyst .. Alister lynch was the first then Franklin , probably a few others too.
Remember the cap is jumping quite a bit so jj getting offered 700,000 (if you believe it) won't be that big if you load your contracts to players at the right years , whether it's front , mid or back ended, that's the list management trick.

I'm talking completely un-tested players ala Boyd and Kelly. Lynch was established and Franklin a star.

After Friday Night interest in Sam Reid would of grown a tad. If he can get through the whole season with getting an injury I'd be giving his management a tingle.

Kelly is a midfielder though and while he's supposedly quit skilled does he have any point of difference that would make him elite?

Just seems an odd place to throw speculative money

An interesting little tidbit from an article about North's Josh Kelly offer:

Josh Kelly must decide if he wants to play in premierships or chase a big contract, writes Jon Ralph

As recently as last month Kelly was exclusively negotiating with the Giants on a two-year extension, unwilling to consider other offers from clubs including the Dogs.

    Same applies to JJ
