We need to put together wins in a row.

In 2008, if we are to play finals, we need to be consistent and put together a string of wins. In the past we don't seem to be able to win more than three weeks in a row.

Is this due to confidence or is it a psychological thing that we don't seem to be able to get over? If we can win the first six games of the season, then we are well on our way.

    These are all winnable

    Adelaide Home
    Melbourne Away
    St. Kilda Home
    Essendon Away
    Richmond Home
    West Coast Home

Have doubts about Adelaide, West Coast and St.Kilda while you shouldn't write of Melb either
In 06 we would win about 4 in a row then lose 4 in a row. In 07 our best winning streak was 2

Why is it that we can't put wins together, week after week. I think in the history of the club, the longest winning streak is probably no more than six.

Simple answer i think. We just havent been good enough. We have never been a dominant team.

I agree, Adelaide - West Coast - StKilda are going to be tough...

StKilda always out-body us - Riewoltd is always destroying, as we would have seen in last years draw

Beating Adelaide would be a huge start and good confidence - also great for Hudson & Welsh.

Actually just taking Welsh away will help us significantly against Adelaide

We've never had a particularly good matchup for Riewoldt. Harris has always been needed for Gehrig. Hargrave has been the next best option as he could run with him, but was never big enough to be able to compete in the air.
Although he is still raw I believe this is where Williams being fit will really help us. He is both athletic enough and big enough to go with Riewoldt. There's still a large gap between them but we finally have someone who can go with athletic CHF types like Riewoldt and will only improve with more experience. We also have some backup in Doogs and Wight although I don't think either of them are week in, week out CHB's like Williams has the potential to be. I also think the extra muscle this year will see us better able to compete with traditionally strong bodied teams like St.Kilda, WCE and Adelaide who we've often struggled against in the past.

As for winning the first 6 well that'd be fantastic and yes they are all tough but winnable games, but I'd settle for 4-2.

We can't be on the business end of some flogging in the first four weeks if we are to achieve the 32,000 member mark. It's very important that we get off to a good start.

You'd think Johnno's 300th and Welsh and Hudson against their old team should be enough to ensure a good first up performance.

I would have said yes once but we haven't done too well in milestone games recently.

Good point, the membership factor also plays a part. The great thing is the first six games are at either Telstra Dome or the MCG. We have to get a good start to the season, or our confidence will be shot. We have to erase the memory of last seasons final games.
