Incentivised ?? That’s a serious word where did you pull that from ? :-)

I’m happy with this. I still think he plays an important role down back.

Suckling has been good this year, a few games wasted on the half forward line notwithstanding. I've never really understood the criticism and am pretty happy he's sticking around. His one on one defending has been just about the best in the back 6 and that random pace he found about 3 years ago is still there.

    Getting small now:

    1. Bailey Williams: 2019
    2. Bailey Dale: 2019 (sounds like re-signing)
    3. Lukas Webb: 2019
    4. Fletcher Roberts: 2019
    5. Tory Dickson: 2019 (age?)
    6. Dale Morris: 2019 (2nd ACL)

    R1. Roarke Smith: 2019 (Rookie)
    R2. Ryan Gardner: 2019 (Rookie)

With three via the draft, and perhaps 3 or 4 by trade/free agency. 7 to go. That's Williams, Morris, Dickson, Webb, Roberts with Picken & Tom Boyd. Unless there's someone else leaving we don't know yet.

I pointed out quite a while ago that rookies only get a 1 year contract (as evidenced today by Sweet signing a contract extension to the end of 2020). Therefore Khamis is still unsigned beyond this year as far as I am aware. Although I would fully expect him to be extended.

As do I, although does the Lachie Young equation change that? Surely we couldn't have expected him to have done so well this year. I expect he's an 'upgrade to the main list' candidate.

Ryan Gardner will be an interesting one to watch. If we trade in two KPDs he may not be retained. If Fletch goes he may well get an extension.

Sorry, I've re-read this a few times and I can't quite figure out what you are saying here?

You did. I left him there as I figured it was a waste of timing moving him back and forth. As it happens, I'm wanting to hand over some threads to other regular posters, I think this one would be perfect you to manage.

    Yeah...

But thanks for doing it I very much appreciate it, as will the woofers Axe Man. What might be easiest, if the mods agree, is if you start a new thread which they sticky, and if they unsticky this thread or delete it. And away we go into the 'busy' season for your new thread. Thanks.

I find it really hard to get my head around a situation where we don't keep Dickson on the list for another year. You only had to watch the first quarter on the weekend (the very small part of the game where it was up for grabs!) to see the value he still has.
And if others are playing so well that he spends time at Footscray, then that is fine too. Have to have a squad to win it - and we will be in the mix of contenders next season.

Yeah, I’m leaning that way too. If others force him out through their own good form, it only makes us stronger. At worst, he plays at Footscray and players like Cavarra, Greene etc get to learn forward craft from him up close.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.
