Re: MRP thread 2017
Everyone has been talking about how Grundy laid the 'perfect tackle'.
And it's been making me sick to my stomach all weekend.
I don't know who teaches tackling technique these days, but when did we actually start teaching players to pick up their opponents in a tackle?
Grundy lays a tackle, pins both arms, then, in a totally separate motion, picks up and throws Ben Brown into the ground.
It was dangerous and stupid and two weeks is a good result for Grundy.

Yep, really slammed him into the turf and face first, much more forceful than Danger's, right decision
What was wrong was the umpire paying it as holding the ball and not a free kick to North. The bloke was knocked out on the ground between Grundy and the man on the mark, surprised he didn't pay a 50!
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

Dangerous and stupid, yes, but I don't think he was lifted. Had at least a foot on the turf the whole time.

When you watch the replay there is a clear second motion.

The umpire can be clearly heard on the footage saying he didn't see his head hit the ground.
For those who were always the underdogs and wore it as a badge of honour.

Re: MRP thread 2017
Charges Laid:
Jack Redpath, Western Bulldogs, has been charged with striking Phil Davis, GWS Giants, during the first quarter of the Round 21 match between the Western Bulldogs and the GWS Giants played at Etihad Stadium on Friday August 11, 2017.
In summary, due to a previous poor record, his two-match sanction is increased by one further game to three matches and he can accept a two-match sanction with an early plea.
Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the GWS Giants Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional contact with low impact to the head. The incident was classified as a two-match sanction. A poor record over the last two seasons increases the penalty by one-game to a three-match sanction. An early plea enables the player to accept a two-match sanction.
Toby Greene, GWS Giants, has been charged with engaging in misconduct against Luke Dahlhaus, Western Bulldogs, during the third quarter of the Round 21 match between the GWS Giants and the Western Bulldogs, played at Etihad Stadium on Friday August 11, 2017.
In summary he can accept a $1500 sanction with an early plea.
An offence for misconduct is classified as a $2500 sanction. An early plea enables the player to accept a $1500 sanction.

Re: MRP thread 2017
So:
1. You can't make a low impact open fist strike to the face. 3 weeks (ok fair enough but 3 weeks is bullcrap)
2. You can kick a bloke in the face. Ok the AFL don't like it so you'll get fined. But it's basically fine to do
3. You can hip and shoulder a bloke to the head. Just make sure who you do it to doesn't get knocked out easily
What a joke. But exactly what I expected. You're losing me AFL

The whole umpiring, tribunal, MRP etc needs an overhaul, this is now beyond a joke.
Teams like Crows and GWS giving false medical reports and getting people suspended, yet a kick in the face is ok.

Should have been suspended. Disgraceful.
