Bevo telling it like it is

But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

He's a consummate professional. Liked his response when the journo asked (in relation to us winning more holding the ball frees) if it's due to training & superior technique. A slight smirk & a one word answer 'probably' before coming back to it and clarifying he didn't want to say too much more about it.

What people don't get is that we've been working on the inside aspect of our game as a priority since Eade left. Bevo's clearly made it more sophisticated these past two years.

I was pointing out on FB to an irate Swans fan that we're extremely disciplined with the way we attack the ball and the man, and position ourselves very well to be beneficiaries of free kicks due to ball getting ability and skill level.

Bevo of course answered the questions very well. I really hope this continues to be what the competition focuses on over the course of the year, because if it is irrespective of the inevitable over-compensation from the AFL mid-season we'll have lifted our game to a level where it won't matter.

This is getting silly. Of course the free to TOYD against Alir was incorrect, but so was the free to Reid against Campbell that resulted in a goal, and if the AFL was asked they'd have stated that (in fact, they probably did but The Age selectively edited it out).

So anyway, according to Wilson the umpires boss has been chastised by Longmire at least once in three phone calls that occurred this week. It's clear the strategy is to get the umpires on the back foot for the AFL's original love child, and this is a classic case of Wilson being selective with who she chooses to indulge when such behaviour is displayed, and who she doesn't.

It's ridiculous how much attention Longmire's bleating is getting.
