We get another mid at pick 16, we have two future mids but Coffield can start at HB (as Griff did) and an attacking mid who debuts this year on the HF line (a la Smith / Ward / Hunter).

Is it just me but see that sees a bit of Bhuba in his run and evasiveness.
He seemed pretty accurate and good skills, does anyone know if he is a long kick ?

A bit surprised Brandon Starcevich doesn't get mention much in the top 20 talk he killed it in the AA game. Im not sure how he tested at the combine but looks an AFL player for sure, a natural footballer that we seem to like so much be nice to know what his speed is like we desperately need some that for sure.

What we need is an electric type pler in the cockatoo/ dan rioli type mold. Coffield looks good at 9. Id also hope higgins sneaks through. Those two at 9 and 16 would be perfect

Re: Picks 9 & 16 - What do want? Who do we want?

I would love 2 players who can give us serious outside run, line breaking abilities and at least 1 who has natural forward smarts, goalkicking. Other attributes I would love to see us focus on include excellent kicking, good defensive pressure and some ability overhead (not asking for much).

I reckon there are 6 prime candidates for us (other than those who will almost certainly have already gone). In a rough order I'm barracking for; Lochie O'Brien, Aiden Bonar, Jack Higgins, Patrick Naish, Oscar Allen and Ed Richards.

    I found this:
East Perth’s Brandon Starcevich further enhanced his draft hopes with a stand out performance at Sunday’s WA State Draft Combine at the State Netball Centre.
Starcevich already attended the national combine in Melbourne, but a quad injury kept him out of some of the physical testing.
The hard-nosed midfielder-forward made sure his name remained prominent with the recruiters with a blistering 2.87sec. 20m sprint, a 91cm running vertical leap and an impressive performance in agility testing with 8.08.
AFL national talent football manager Michael Ablett said Starcevich was particularly impressive, just a couple of weeks on from the national combine.

I think Clark will be a good player but not what we need. Similar to Dunkley imo

I'm interested in this assessment Doc, he's a fairly complete player with good skills on either foot, quickness and plays as a genuine mid or even a medium defender. I don't quite see the comparison with Dunks.

in the context of being a similar size and a bit untidy. I'm hoping for more speed and goalkicking ability in the players we go for. I wouldn't be unhappy with his selection just have other preferences.

I think Clark is a better user than Dunks and would add a point of different to our midfield.

Whilst Dunks has some knocks on his game, his ability to get shots on goal is actually pretty good too and he’s one I could see developing his forward craft and increasing time spent there if he can polish his set shot kicking up a little.

Looking at the draft order. We have 16, and Brisbane 15.

If we can get some club to lodge a bid on Ballenden before their Pick 15, they'll absolutely match it. Thereby taking them out of a play on anyone we may want at 15. GWS, Sydney & Adelaide might be interested (hopefully). We get a one spot bump, which would be nice.

And West Coast bidding on Ryan or Kelly at 13 because they're scared we will take one of them at 16.

Effectively bumping up to pick 14, that'd be nice.
