I thought he might've played in a losing one for Claremont in 1972, but i see now the reference was inferring a VFL GF.

Oh yeah. Good point. My Heartland tm based arrogance refuses to acknowledge non VFL grand finals or we'd be counting Tony Secombe and Ron Best as premiership players.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

    My football resume is incredible.

    * My football career would span 3 decades
    * I had won 4 senior best and fairest awards before I joined the bulldogs
    * I would play interstate football for 2 states
    * I played for 2 VFL clubs and kicked 2 goals in a losing grand final side
Query: Were the four B & Fs at VFL clubs or in another League?

I think he is coaching another club next year.

    some additional clues

his 4 B&F's were in the rival comp to the VFL at the time. He was a mature age player when he arrived. A lively player who kicked more goals than games played in his VFL career which was under 100 games.

I reckon we could use him now

I don't know how anyone could get the Colossus of the Goal Square out of their head! This player was before Danny's time.

    I figured as much.

I'm not going to get this one without Googling.

    one trivial clue

The year after he left the Bulldogs is when he played in the losing VFL Grand final and kicked 2 goals. One of his team mate's that year won the Brownlow medal and would go to be one of the all time greats & a premiership coach much to our chagrin. These 2 also played together before they began their VFL careers (where our player won his 4 B&F's) and by all accounts formed a mighty partnership.

To clarify - the brownlow medallist team mate was playing for the losing grand final team and not Footscray?

My guess is Peter Featherby, but he wouldn’t have played in a Grand Final side.

    ripping question.

I'd be stunned if Twodogs or BAD couldn't work it out off that clue.
