They should have taken in consideration how many weeks Ah Chee will miss. Cripps the same after appeal. Simple.

So if Cordy’s bump was legal and the player was knocked out because his head hit the ground, surely he gets off, just like Cripps?

    Cordy bumped him.
    Cripps didn't bump him.

I don't think either of them should have been suspended but I also don't think they are similar in any way.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

So you are happy in a non marking contest, a player can jump in the air, collect someone in the head and concuss them? The alternative was Cripps actually tackle the player and not be reckless in what he did? So, he chose to hurt.

Cordy should be fine, he bumped shoulder to shoulder.

Well surprise surprise, a Bulldog player cops it.

MRO: Zaine Cordy has been referred directly to the Tribunal following an incident with Tanner Bruhn. The incident is ungraded and Cordy is unable to accept an early plea.Bailey Dale can accept a $2000 fine with an early plea for striking (first offence).

Am I missing something - why is it a direct referral to the tribunal?

Either they deem it to be a high bump which they need to grade, or they deem it to not be worthy of a report. Why would it go directly to the tribunal?

It falls under the rule that if you choose to bump then you're responsible for the consequences even if you're not responsible for the consequences. It's pretty simple.

    Good question.

Im sure the GWS doctors put in a good word for Zaine too. I’m surprised the player that came in and gave him a cheapie from behind didn’t even get a fine.
    Actually no I’m not.

An ungraded bump? This is literally them just going on the vibe because Bruhn knocked himself out on the ground.

    Re: MRO Thread

Sorry if this has been covered by media (I tend not to watch footy media)….I looked at footage carefully. I think initial contact is shoulder to shoulder but with Cordy being taller and with the normal forward momentum from the bump resulting in Bruhn’s head tilting sideways Bruhn’s head then hits Cordy’s upper shoulder. Based upon Bruhn’s movement after this I think this head to shoulder contact likely caused the concussion, not the fall to the ground (or the fall to the ground exacerbated it). If I’m correct I’m not sure how tribunal would judge it.

Hypothetical scenario: player A tackles player B and as player B falls to ground he hits his head on player A’s knee and is concussed. This would presumably be an unfortunate incident but not one that results in suspension of player A. I suppose the argument could be that the difference b/w Cordy & Bruhn incident is there is a higher risk of a bump making contact with the head directly or head contact as a secondary result?

From the angle I saw, he got 100% shoulder, and the GWS dude crumpled and hit his head on the ground.

So, he chose to bump and he hit him fairly... so, not sure what he did wrong. I mean, risky play for sure. But, should be fine.
