The AFL is absolutely asking for trouble with this. The longer this goes the more you see how negligent it really is. Who is advising them?

Incredibly the league took actions like that more seriously back in Byron Pickett's day, when they barely knew what concussion was, than they do know. 2 weeks for that action, regardless of outcome, is not enough.

    Fancy that ...

"Leading concussion experts have called for stiffer sanctions to be meted out to AFL players who carry out dangerous hits, arguing Melbourne’s Kysaiah Pickett should have been banned for at least four matches instead of the two he received for his bump on Western Bulldog Bailey Smith" ...

Concussion experts call for tougher AFL penalties after Kysaiah Pickett’s high bump

4 weeks seems about right. He had options and the fact that they've chosen not to challenge it means they know they've received a discount.

Worst part is that despite their horsesh1t rhetoric, I picked the sanction so easily.

If they're serious it's straight to the tribunal, give it air in the media, expose the cretins who think it's fine and hopefully end up with a sanction that dissuades recidivism. Maybe even some education for Kysaiah before he does a Brendan Krummel to someone.

Nope it's swept under the rug with a feather.

Pickett launched himself like a torpedo, that has never been a legal action in football. The only reason why he's not looking at a month or more is because he didn't concuss Smith.

Yep, a very different story if Baz was injured.

Kossie's attack on the ball reminded me of Byron all those years ago.

Someone is going to be seriously hurt. 2 weeks is like a hit by a wet lettuce leaf. I hate snipers like Pickett and Ziebell. 4 weeks minimum. Intent and foreseeable potential outcome nor just actual outcome should be considered. Will turn parents away from juniors. Weak as water, but what do you expect from HQ.

I dunno if I said it earlier but I definitely agree with you. That's a four week holiday without question.
