Re: Injury List 2018
Boyd, Crozier in the mix to face Eagles
The Western Bulldogs could welcome back both Tom Boyd and Hayden Crozier for Sunday’s match against the West Coast Eagles in Perth, according to Club Medical Services Manager Chris Bell.
Boyd missed Saturday’s loss against the Demons after reporting back soreness, but according to Bell, he may yet make the trip west on the weekend.
“During the Hawthorn game, Tom Boyd had some acute lumbar spine disc symptoms, (and) his back went into spasm for 4-5 days following the game,” he said.
“In the last 24 hours he has really started to improve, so we'll work with Tom this week to determine his availability towards the back end of the week.”
Defender Hayden Crozier is also a chance to return but will face a test later in the week.
“Hayden had some hamstring tightness last week. It was really minor but we weren't prepared to play Hayden and expose him to any risk, he said.
“He's symptom free on all our tests today so we'll go through process with Hayden this week to determine his availability.”
Vice-captain Marcus Bontempelli is on the mend after he had his appendix removed last week and resumed running on Tuesday, Bell said.
“Marcus is continuing to recover really well from the removal of his appendix.
“At this stage he won't play this weekend but he's on track to resume the following week against Port Adelaide.”
And ruckman Tom Campbell will be unavailable this week due to a foot complaint.
“Tom’s had some persistent plantar fascia symptoms over the last three to four weeks, he said.
“He hasn't been able to shake these symptoms whilst continuing to play so we gave him the weekend off.
We'll also look at giving him this week off with the expectation that he then has a clean run at the back end of the season.”

No wonder why we are struggling this year. That is an extensive injury list.

Another foot injury. A lot of bad luck with the feet of our players this year.

Article on AFL site re Webb here
Anyone can support a team that is winning, it takes no courage. But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you, that takes a lot of courage, so lets always be behind our boys and girls in red, white and blue.

Re: Injury List 2018
I hope Webb is ok, this is really bad news
Bulldog Webb fractures his neck
Young Bulldogs midfielder Lukas Webb fractured his neck in a VFL game last week and will be in a neck brace for an extended period.
Webb was crushed in a tackle and suffered the serious injury which will now keep him indefinitely sidelined and in a neck brace for several months.
Scans have confirmed the midfielder suffered a hairline crack in the neck during the VFL game against Casey on the Sunday which was in the circumstances a good result given how close that came to being far more serious.
The injury was not the result of a head-high bump or heavy tackle from the side that caused a whiplash motion. It was described more as a compression injury in which he was jammed down.
The club will approach his recovery cautiously with Webb to wear a neck brace, required to rest and attempt no significant physical activity while the fracture heals. There is no specific time frame fow how long he will wear the brace and he will have regular scans to monitor progress.
After the brace comes off, he will again be monitored as he increases his physical recovery in training.
"[The injury] is to the neck, so with the neck and the back, it's just that spinal risk," Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge said earlier this week as Webb was heading for further assessment.
"I'd rather not give any detail on the advisement of doctors, but they've just informed me he'll be out for the rest of the year.
"He sustained an injury during the game and the scans have shown it's a bit more serious than we thought it would be, so we'll take really cautious steps with him."
The promising young fringe midfielder has played 24 AFL games, including five this year, since being taken with pick 27 in the 2014 draft.
He began his career strongly, playing 10 games in his first season, but has struggled to cement a place in the team since then playing four or five games each season.

Re: Injury List 2018
Just been going through the 2016 premiership team to see who’s missing between then and now.
It’s pretty shocking.
Bob Murphy (retired) didn’t play but was an inspirational presence around the club.
Players out from premiership 22
1. Matthew Boyd. (Retired) 292 games, ex captain. B&F winner All Australian. Great leader on and off field
2. Clay Smith. Missed entire year and retired due to chronic knee soreness. One of our best for entire 2016 finals campaign.
3. Libba. Out for year with ACL. B&F winner.
4. Liam Picken. Missed entire year. Concussion. One of our best for entire 2016 finals campaign.
5. Jake Stringer. 42 goals in 2016. All Australian 2015. Traded out.
6. Joel Hamling Traded out (requested to go home to WA)
7. Easton Wood. Captain. (B&F winner All Australian) Hamstring 6 weeks out
8. Marcus Bontempelli. (Dual B&F winner All Australian) Appendix operation.
9. Tory Dickson. 40 goals in 2016. Chronic hamstring. Only played 5 games this year.
10. Tom Boyd. Back soreness.
And here’s the list of players who would be definite or hovering close to best 22 who were out last weekend.
1. Suckling. Achilles
2. Lin Jong. Collarbone
3. Lucas Webb. Neck (season)
4. Bailey Dale. Foot (season)
5. Bailey Williams. Foot
6. Jack Redpath. Knee (indefinite)
7. Haydn Crozier. Hamstring
8. Tom Campbell. Planter fascitis.
Looking forward to a top 5 pick, that’s all I can say.

Re: Injury List 2018
* Mitch Honeychurch has been cleared of serious injury after the incident with Shannon Hurn. Scans show no damage to his neck or cheekbone, but he has a concussion.
* Luke Dahlhaus will miss at least one match with a syndesmosis injury, sustained after his leg was caught underneath a tackle by big-bodied midfielder Elliot Yeo.

Also missing due to form are Biggs and Fletcher. Given our injuries the fact they can’t get a game is an indictment
