I'm pretty sure that's just a typo, just as sure as I am that the docs don't type those lists directly onto the website, and that they do in fact know what it's called.

Yes, but my point was a simple one letter typo ("planter" instead of "plantar") doesn't mean the club's medicos don't know what they are doing. A typo is a typo.

Boot in head sees Cordy's forehead cracked

FRACTURED forehead has Western Bulldogs defender Zaine Cordy in doubt to return this season, but the damage isn't as bad as it could be.

Cordy, 21, was injured in the second quarter and went off the field under the blood rule after being on the end of an errant left boot from North Melbourne big man Ben Brown in the immediate aftermath of a marking contest.

"He's got a little fracture in his forehead," Dogs coach Luke Beveridge said.

"It's just a bit of bad luck. I think the big fella Brown came down on him after a marking contest. We think he's OK."

Beveridge believed it could have been worse.

"Obviously if it was too depressed, it'd be seriously concerning," Beveridge said.

"Hopefully he's OK and he hasn't got much of a dint in his head and he doesn't bleed much and he's all right. It seems like he's pretty stable and it's not as bad as it could be, even though it's not flash

The backman is unlikely to be fit to face Carlton next Sunday at Etihad Stadium.

"You can (play) with a (fractured) cheekbone, but I suppose with the brain being right behind your forehead, I'd hazard a guess he mightn't be available next week," Beveridge said.

That's a pretty positive assessment. I'd think any dint in the forehead isn't a good thing.

But they manage that positivity conservatively.

Medical update: Cordy to miss clash with Blues

Western Bulldogs key defender Zaine Cordy has been ruled out of Sunday’s match against Carlton after specialists confirmed a minor fracture to his frontal sinus.

Cordy was taken to hospital following the incident in the second quarter, after the boot of Kangaroos’ forward Ben Brown collided with his forehead.

Bulldogs’ Medical Services Manager Chris Bell told westernbulldogs.com.au that the Club will be cautious with the 21-year-old before giving him the all-clear to return.

“Zaine suffered an injury in the second quarter of the game where an opposition’s boot landed on his forehead,” said Bell.
“This contact has caused a minor crack to the frontal sinus in his head.

“We’ve consulted with a specialist today and we will manage Zaine conservatively.
“He won’t play this week but we’ll work with a specialist to determine his availability for next week.”

The Bulldogs are set to regain skipper Easton Wood this week, who has not played since suffering a hamstring injury in Round 13.

“Easton has been fantastic in his recovery following his high-grade hamstring injury,” Bell said.

“He really has left no stone unturned in trying to get back this season.

“He completed our final measures on the weekend in terms of his training loads and he’ll come back into full training this week.

“If he gets through full training as we expect, he’ll be available this weekend.”

Defender Roarke Smith could also be available for selection after he missed the Dogs’ win over North Melbourne.

Phew, that's a relief. Hopefully he can tick all the boxes to return. Good thing it's not round 3, we probably wouldn't see him again this year.

Injured Bont's no diver, says Beveridge

MARCUS Bontempelli is in doubt for the Western Bulldogs' final home and away season game against Richmond next week after battling through a back injury in Sunday's 17-point win over Carlton at Etihad Stadium.

Coach Luke Beveridge revealed the star midfielder barely trained this week after he landed heavily on his back in an aerial contest with North Melbourne's Luke McDonald early in last weekend's game between the Dogs and Kangaroos.

Despite gathering 37 disposals in a superb effort, Bontempelli was limited for much of Sunday's contest and was hesitant to sit on the interchange bench when he did come off the ground in case his back seized up on him.

"He's a tough young fella. He got through today, but he was in a fair bit of pain and under a fair bit of duress," Beveridge said in his post-game press conference.

"So, he's had an outstanding game for a player who's had that to confront."

Bontempelli received a controversial free kick for an elbow from Carlton's Jed Lamb to his back that led to a Lin Jong goal in the final quarter, which saw Bulldogs skip out to a 15-point lead.

Bontempelli went to ground despite apparent minimal contact, much to the chagrin of Blues fans who thought the midfielder staged for the free kick.

"I haven't seen the replay and I didn't see what happened off the ball, but he got a hit right on that spot that he landed on last week," Beveridge said.

"There's no way Marcus Bontempelli would ever take a dive."

Bontempelli spent the majority of the game in the midfield, with the Bulldogs having to change his role and not have him spend as much time in attack as he is used to.

"Because he was off the boil he probably wasn't as mobile as a forward as he would be a midfielder, so we had to make sure we spent 100 per cent as a midfielder with him so he would stay active," Beveridge said.

"He did an outstanding job and he had a big influence on the game."

Medical update: Bont a chance for Tigers

Marcus Bontempelli will face a test this week to see if he’ll be available for Saturday’s clash with ladder-leaders Richmond at the MCG, after battling a lower back injury over the past week.

Bontempelli fell heavily against North Melbourne in Round 21 and was restricted in his preparation for Sunday’s 17-point win over Carlton, but he remains a chance to face the Tigers.

“Although his symptoms did improve toward the back end of last week they were aggravated during the game on the weekend,“ Western Bulldogs medical services manger Chris Bell said.

“We'll work hard to get Marcus right this week, and will determine his availability later in the week.”

A foot stress injury has kept Bailey Williams sidelined since Round 15, but according to Bell, the promising young Dog’s season may not be over just yet.

“Bailey has completed the end stage rehab from his footy stress injury,” he said.

“He completed a really good footy session on the weekend. He'll come back into a full training model this week and if he gets through as I expect, he'll return to playing this weekend.”

Defender Shane Biggs could also come into consideration this week after missing the past fortnight with general knee soreness, while Fletcher Roberts and Nathan Mullenger-McHugh were both withdrawn from Footscray’s loss to Essendon with concussion symptoms.

The Club will worth through a process with the doctors this week to determine their availability.
