Scotty Clayton (the man who was apparently a great closer of deals and contracts) has done the Suns no favours has he? A poor deal for the Suns and a good deal for West Coast.
Interestingly Clayton now works for the Eagles. The skeptic in me thinks perhaps the Eagles might have felt obligated.

    a. The Giants were given two years of draft concessions compared to the Suns' one.

    b. Clayton's strategy of drafting skinny outside flankers was even less successful with the Suns than it was for us.

    c. Giants targeted 'young' mature talent in their early 20s. GCS took late 20s guys who topped up their super than retired.

    Wow!
Makes our trade period look positively fantastic by comparison.
I'm guessing West Coast don't let Clayton close out any deals for them this trade period now he's on their team!

The Giants also got the benefit of the 'mini draft ' picks to trade and ended yo with an extra 5 first round picks.

There are some deals that just seem utterly, almost criminally inept or even corrupt.

The AFL need to put their tail between their legs and admit a team in the GC was a huge mistake. Shut it down and filter their players to the other clubs...if they’re wanted that is.

The joke is over..they’ve been a basket case since day 1 and when players won’t wanna go there it won’t help their cause. Ablett/hunt was an absolute farce. Let the laughing stock die a quick death.

To give Norf their due, they stared the AFL down and remained in Melbourne knowing what a cesspit the Gold Coast is for sporting organisations. They would not be much better off than the Suns had they relocated.
