Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith

AFL.com writers have Smith finishing in fourth place in the rising star behind Walsh, Rozee and Stack. Seems a reasonable result as all have had excellent seasons. Interestingly two have him second only to Walsh whilst five others give him no votes at all.

Who wins the 2019 Rising Star? Our reporters name their top five

    Total
    60 – Sam Walsh (Carlton) – 555555555555
    38 – Connor Rozee (Port Adelaide) – 444444333311
    35 – Sydney Stack (Richmond) – 444333333311
    19 – Bailey Smith (Western Bulldogs) – 4432222
    8 – Oscar Allen (West Coast) – 4211
    6 – Xavier Duursma (Port Adelaide) – 2211
    5 – Cam Zurhaar (North Melbourne) – 221
    4 – Gryan Miers (Geelong) - 22
    3 – Nick Blakey (Sydney) – 21
    2 – Josh Battle (St Kilda) – 11

Rozee is a fair player too. He has flown under the Walsh radar a little bit like a few others.

I like saying his name too, it sounds a bit like a toffee. I will have a Werners Conner Rozee delight please.
Have you been reading those Roddy Doyle books again, Dougal!?

Bailey Smith would have close to the most upside from that list - younger, interrupter pre-season.
Oscar Allen, Battle and Blakey huge upside too. I love the way Rozee plays.

Well, to be fair watching us before the bye wasn't exactly a picnic.

Give it another 12-18 months and those reckoning with our three Musketeers will be reckoning with a fourth.

    Long may they bully teams.

Extend his contract ASAP. Hawks having a nice chunk of cap space no longer tied to Conoglio makes me wary.

I’m sure extending his contract is not through lack of effort on our part!

That is a pretty damn impressive list of players. Great crop.
I love what I've seen of Zurhaar too.

At some point in the future, Bailey Smith may well be considered the best of the bunch

    Isn't it.

Bailey would be stiff not to get in the podium in front of Stack but Walsh and Rozee are a thoroughly deserving 1 and 2.

Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith

not suprised he is ranked 4th, he plays for the bulldogs.

in seriousness, if the season (H&A) was another 5 rounds he'd surely come close to winning it.

Rozee and Stack both stars, I think Smith is a ready built footballer compared with them.

I prefer he misses the Rising Star and have a career like Bont.

Much better than winning and having a career like Rhys Palmer or Lewis Taylor.
