Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith

After tonight, I'm comparing him to Dustin Martin as a player (only). Beast, don't argues, strong, quick, works hard and kicks clutch goals.

Give him an extension now. It's usual to offer a two year extension, but three is fine by me.

Sign this kid for the next 3 years - watch him develop - possible future club leader in my humble opinion

One of his big selling points as a draftee was the level of professionalism he had, even as a junior.

It showed tonight. Still going strong when the whips were cracking.

Even though he plays for us, he'll be well and truly in Rising Star discussions come season's end.

And I was concerned because of his professionalism did he have any growth left in his game...

But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

He missed half of pre season too.
Scary what he will be after a full one, if he gets in the gym with Dale Morris we could have the hulk playing in the midfield, still can’t believe how blind the media “ experts” are.

Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith

I've never seen anyone push off players and hold onto the footy in close in their first year like this kid does. For a lad who is ripped and not big, he just possesses so much strength.

We quickly need to get into his head that being selfish is actually OK sometimes when he has a clear lane kicking forward. He could be a relatively complete player in a year or two if we coach him properly, as the hard stuff is already there.

He is always moving his feet. An important and often overlooked trait. I have a lot of confidence when he is in the thick of it, that we'll get a physically robust effort as a minimum, and more than likely a clean disposal from a marginal win.

Another Brad Johnson! So impressed with his contested work. Doesn't get the love other kids in his draft does. Look forward to this kid developing into something special.

While we are singing the praises of Bailey Smith right now it's also important to know he didn't have a good preseason given his injuries. I think he has scope for even more improvement.

I missed it first time around but the rebound off Bailey at halfback in the last quarter was telling I thought. Everyone kept their head and rushed the ball forward afterwards.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
