    Rating The Draft 2018

We took two AA midfielders in Smith & West.
Took a quick, highly skilled mid/flanker in Vandermeer.
Grabbed a pressure small forward in Cavarra.
Obtained St Kilda's 2019 third rounder from North.
    Will Hayes with Pick 78.

Khamis, the AA defender with elite kicking skills, to the rookie list.

That's a huge win. Not only for the players, but the war chest of picks that Power has accumulated for 2019.

We haven't replaced a lot of the height we let go (Roughy, Campbell, Collins, Adams). So I guess we wait for the rookie draft later tonight to see how we deal with this aspect. But almost everything we wanted to happen, happened. Time to be a happy member.

I'm so excited by all the picks so far. They all have huge reputations as extremely hard workers. To hear them speak, proud to have them at the club and the Tricolour will look great on all these boys.
    Great days.

Senior list is full with the 5 players we took. Pretty sure we have two Rookie spots with Khamis apparently eligible to be drafted as a category 2 rookie.

Three rookie spots if Khamis is category B with only Roarke already on the category A rookie list.

We went for a very specific type- Hard working, dedicated, and fully committed to making the best of their career.

Some clever trading to position ourselves where we wanted to be too, which is a refreshing change.

Time will tell what the quality is like but we clearly had a strategy and we executed on it.

    We had 9 departures:

    Marcus Adams (trd)
    Shane Biggs (ret)
    Tom Campbell (del)
    Kieran Collins (del)
    Luke Dahlhaus (FA)
    Mitch Honeychurch (del)
    Jack Redpath (ret)
    Jordan Roughead (trd)
    Clay Smith (ret)

We traded in Lloyd, Duryea, drafted Smith, West, Van, Cavarra, Hayes. I am guessing Gowers an upgrade, and not sure of Lynch's position?

Lynch had to be upgraded or delisted as it was his third year on the rookie list. He obviously wasn't delisted so he must be upgraded.

Lynch got 2 years, I assume that can only mean Senior list (although it's not overtly stated in the article below).

I assumed three spots on the Rookie list as that is all we have listed on the website (Lynch, R. Smith, and Gowers) but they must have already removed Tommy Campbell.

So Khamis Category B + Roarke Smith + Three extra rookies.

Ok thanks (having some trouble differentiating rookie spots from main list these days....given our annual injury procession, all players in reality get their shot!).

Ins to the main list are:

Lloyd, Duryea, Gowers, Lynch, Smith, West, Vanders, Cavarra, Hayes

    Ins to the rookie list:

Khamis so far, or 99% certain.

Why did we trade 30 for 34? Was Vandermeer always in our sights?

A bid had come in for Rhylee West which would've used up our pick 30 but pick 34 also had enough points to cover the bid. So we dropped back from 30 to 34 to cover the bid and upgraded our later pick from 57 to 41. 41 ended up becoming 45 after other bids were matched.

30 was going anyway on West and 34 would cover him so we gave it up to get an upgrade later in the draft
