Best First Year Player 2019 Award

    From:

Smith, West, Vanders, Cavarra, Hayes, Young, Sweet, Khamis

Hard to go passed Smith for me. I'm saying he will have a standout year, and will be second to a GCS player in the Rising Star Award (no matter the player, or season had).

I'm going with Cavarra. Think we're really lacking that pressure forward and his speed will be a big asset in the forward half.

Hardest year to call of the last few, all have such high work rates that none of them should get shell shocked by the step up to AFL.

I’m going w Cavarra because I believe in fairy tales

I will go with Scooter jr. Scott West had plenty of tricks as a 17 yo and I'm betting the son will too.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I'll go Cavarra. Ready made player, elite athletic profile, and has dominated every level he's ever played.

I'm going to go Smith. The things that impresses me are his pace over the first few metres, his continual run on after he has released the ball so as to create another handball option and his footskills.

Agree with this. He's in an area of the field we lack depth too, so should get meaningful opportunities early.
