Co-Captains - What is your Opinion

Sydney now have three captains after the appointment of Luke Parker and Dane Rampe - joining Josh Kennedy.

I just don't get the need to have more than one Captain on the field.

    Have Sydney gone too far?

Would you like our club to go down this track some time in the future? I certainly don't.

Re: Co-Captains - What is your Opinion

It works at some clubs, not at others. I think it's dependant on the personnel.

At Carlton Cripps is a co-captain and is an excellent on-field leader, Doc is much better at the official club duty stuff. Co-captains works in their case.

Woody is good at both (pre-season at HB and he should get back to his AA form), fortunately Bonti speaks well off field too so I think he could also captain in his own right. I prefer a single captain if circumstances allow.

I'd prefer not to have multiple captains but if there are genuine reasons why then I guess it could work.

Perhaps it's a decent short term approach to develop leaders

I'm yet to be sold on the idea at all.

Smacks of indecision. Such a MFC thing to do.

Yep, appoint a captain, one captain, and be done with it.

Could possibly have something to do with runners being heavily restricted this season.

either way, not sold on the idea at all.

That's an interesting way of looking at it.

Re: Co-Captains - What is your Opinion

I am definitely in the 1 captain only camp.

2019, however, will require lots of on field leadership with the restriction on runners. I would still think that having vice captains is just as effective.

    Co-captaincy - is it a good thing?

I see that the Swans have reverted to having co-captains again and from memory, a few other teams use this arrangement. See http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-12-1...aptaincy-model

Is it a good system? And if you think it is, should we use it and who would be our co-captains?

I think it can be a good thing for the right club at certain times but ultimately the one captain model works the best
If a club needs to fast track some leaders it could be a realistic option

I don't like the idea. If I were the captain of a club the last thing I'd want is another captain speaking with the same authority.

I think that it's only really necessary if you need to fast track your leadership group. Otherwise it just kinda seems unnecessary.
