Re: Proactive Poaching
It's curious to reflect on the same time last year that Lynch & Williams would (seemingly) become surplus to requirements.

Not sure if that comes up - Bulldogs interested in Dougal Howard, who is still contracted at Port.

You need to check, we have turned over at least 10 per year over the last few years.

Really? Wow that blows my mind that we have had 30 list changes in the last three years. I will have to look more into it.

Slight exaggeration, but still a big turnover, 34 in 4 years.

I can’t find that anywhere that we cut 10 main listed players three years running. Can you post a link for me?

Re: Proactive Poaching
Rookies aren’t generally considered to be in the turnover figure, it’s a main list metric. So it’s more like 9, 7, 5 & 6.
We need to find a 6th and bring in talent while we can.

Besides being a touch too loyal to a few they’ve made significant changes over the last few years

Fair enough, but we have still have had a decent turnover.
I really don't understand why we gave Porter another year

It's an interesting question, re Porter. We are seemingly interested in about 10 players, and surely must be hoping to land 3. Which means 6 spots. Maybe the club is aware of interest in a fringe player from another club and will facilitate it? Maybe the thought is Dicko is going retire? The club obviously knows something that we can only guess. Surely we can't have the huge money and war chest of picks, with the offers/interest going everywhere and not have three spots ready to go if God forbid three players say yes to us.

I suspect our targets are pretty clear:
- KPD/swingman
- Class forward of the ball/small forward
- Outside run / wing
I expect we hope to bring in three mature players who are best 22 given what we are willing to pay. If we get 1-2 I think we'll still be in a very good position cap-wise, with the potential for a 'game changing' NGA/FS draft haul in 2020 setting up for sustained success.
