    We get Bruce and give them 30, 41, 46 & 84.

    They would now have 5 (Hill), 30 (Jones), 41 (Ryder), 46 (Gray), 55 (draft 1), 67 (draft 2) & 84 (draft 3) (or similar)

Dogs get St Kilda's 2020 2nd Rounder (with Bruce). Seems like a good win-win for both clubs.
I know this is a stand alone scenario but to get the full effect are we (likely) keeping pick 12 or looking to turn that into Howard from Port and something else coming back to us this year or next?

We could effectively be writing off this years 1st and 2nd rounds picks which hasn't been in our DNA

It helps Saints achieve at least some of their wish lists (although they will make a play for Ben King next year without a 2nd round pick) but the unkown is what it does for us unless Port would be interested in a 2nd rounder in 2020 for Howard

I just ran through pick splitting option my early list management thread. We need all the picks we can get next year, we can't trade them until it's a draft points positive trade, we need to do things this year. The Saints will be needing to offer players &/first rounders for King. They should offer Pick 5 but demand a 2020 second from Freo and then they've covered the second rounder in any event. We are well placed to give them the short term win, and a second rounder next year is not a bad price to pay for them. The scenarios are roughly (using names from the media as examples only):

    Pick 12 - Keath & Pick 26. Pick 26 Howard. Pick 30 Bruce.
    Pick 12 - Howard & Pick 27. Pick 27 Keath. Pick 30 Bruce.

With Ugle-Hagan, Stevens, MacPherson & Raak potentially. There's plenty of good kids on the horizon. I'd trade heavily this year with the money, the picks and the next year being almost only about more kids. Upgrade Lachie Young, and take two mid to later picks this year.

With "Ugle-Hagan, Stevens, MacPherson & Raak potentially." next year, can we do a future 2nd round pick this year swap somehow package this with Bruce....?

Would love to get Ben Long from them.

    Can we? Sure we can.
Should we? No. We need 3,000++ draft points by my estimations and we are a long way off that as it stands (1,000+ points). We need to find good picks coming into us to get our priority access players without a crippling deficit. Trading out good picks next year (in non draft points trades), well, I just don't see how that works for us.

If they want to bring in top end draftees to replace ageing/retired players and need to find a big chunk of salary cap, then maybe there's a conversation about Moore after all. If his hamstrings passed a medical.

They can still trade future picks if need be though right?

    Sure to us!

I think our picks in the 40’s are better for them to use with Ryder & Gray (or 55). Much like dealing with Carlton for pick 16 for two picks in the 20’s they needed for trade. And then their draft picks aren’t bunched at the end, with Steven apparently just pick 54 from Geelong. If Port draft points trade their 27, or look at Pick 12 for 27 & Howard, then they will need points this year with no second or third rounders to secure Mead. Pick 41 & 46/55 will do the job nicely for Port. A lot of moving pieces but I hope Power & Bain’s have had a chat to St Kilda. Also if St Kilda think with all these players their second rounder might be pick 30 after compo, maybe 41 & 46 right now is better than the expected 30 later?

    Tom Browne's latest guess....

Collingwood, Melbourne, Hawthorn, North Melbourne & Western Bulldogs interested in signing Jamie Elliott. He'd prefer to stay (Collingwood only 2 years on limited money), but 3 years on more money might do it...

Or he back tracks this in 30 minutes...

"Tom Browne has now named Melbourne, Hawthorn, North, Bulldogs and a potential to stay at Collingwood" in the race for Elliot.

He was the Pies best forward yesterday, by a long margin.

Is he that good of a footballer to have a number of clubs interested?

Yes. I think he is G. Missed a lot of footy otherwise would be considered more valuable to Collingwood.

His body is letting him down but he's still a super talented small forward. More of a marking forward than a crumbing small so he's not quite what we need but he's an upgrade on all of our non KPFs but Dickson.

Bring him in and trade Gowers for whatever pick? If Dickson didn't play on, the two wages combined would be tempting for Elliot.

So Friday of next week is the opening of free agency. Apart from the discussion on Elliot, are there any other free agents we should be looking at?
