    Re: Proactive Poaching

Any movement on King would most likely occur next year. His management have made it clear he stays at Gold Coast next year.

Next year we would have 2020 & 2021 first round picks to play with. We have time this year to get more draft points next year by pick swapping. It's quite possible. It would probably mean some of our NGA prospects might slip down the priority list if King was a genuine chance to come to us. King knows he wants to. His metro mates Smith & West are waiting for him.

Not sequentially possible. We won't have Ugle-Hagan until the draft next year. The trade period is a month before it obviously.

    And no.

Don’t know what’s more curious about this one, that they are hanging out or that the photo has quickly been pulled.

Apologies I can’t just post the photo, it never allows me to upload photos (always claiming I have reached my quota despite having deleted all the previous attachments)

That could also be spin. If they want him they need to pump up his ego. I best they have sat Smith down as said don’t believe the story you were always our man.

Looking forward - Naughton, Darcy and JUH. It will be the envy of everyone.

If trading for King means missing out on Stevens and Macpherson, well sorry kids.

Will never happen but a spine of Naughton, King, Jamarra & English is pretty mouth watering to consider.

12 months back many here were happy with our number of key position and ruck man we had on the list.
12 months later with Keath and Bruce right on our radar and our audacious interest in Ben King it appears the club has had a serious rethink and have made this a key priority to address.
On top of that we have the highly rated Ugle-Hagen a distinct chance of arriving at the club in the next 12 months

Bevo has flipped his thinking from having no one tall enough to ruck to having 22 rucks at once.

12 months ago he was suffering from a significant mental health challenge and a debilitating back injury that wasn't progressing well. He even looked at options away from the club to help fix his back injury because he was frustrated at the way he was progressing.
I think we knew, or at least should have known, he was at best a 50/50 prospect for 2019.

I think we need to face facts that we learned a valuable lesson in not going into seasons light on for key position players because an unexpected injury or two or especially gambling on a key player with two significant challenges has the ability to compromise the season. Given Boyd's challenges we should have done a lot more last year to address the gap with our key position players.

Has our tact changed this year because there’s gettable tall options who can actually play and add value?

You can always find players to come in and add value, they don't necessarily have to be star players like Ben King might be. Trengove is an example of that.
We've also made some serious commitments to Keath and Bruce in a financial sense with 4 years deals that their existing clubs weren't prepared to do to. That sounds to me like we knew we had to address the gap we had this year and put a bit of gusto behind our approach. It wasn't just because of the loss of Tom Boyd because we knew he was no sure thing for the 2019 season,

With Keath and Bruce it sounds as if the work was done early-ish at the very least. How do we know we didn’t try the same thing last year?
