If it was, it's probably similar to Ablett's "mark" of the century.
Yeah it was paid. Still only had it for about a quarter of a second though...

Granty v Freo - about 5:45 in - great grab.

Picken from behind an honourable mention

Glad someone mentioned it, an iconic Bulldog image.

I saw Monty's mark live at the SCG, only highlight on a bleak day.

Perhaps it's recency bias but Crozier really does have a hell of a leap on him. Coudl he bve the first bulldog to win mark of the year? His effort against Collingwood will be hard to beat.

Then Dougie comes flying out of absolutely nowhere and sticks the mark.

I'd forgotten how masterly the Hawk was. He owned positions on the ground and opposition players on a weekly basis and he could do it all, mark overhead, pick up a bouncing ball below his knees at top pace, avoid, baulk, run around or outposition opposition players with ease. What a gun he was. It was a pleasure to go to the footy each week just to see what Doug would do.

Not so much a speccy taker but Jim Edmond had the safest set of hands I have ever seen. He was so good at owning the space where the ball dropped and had such massive hands that it was pretty much impossible for an opposition player to spoil the ball. It was almost like he had his very own bucket to catch the ball in.
Have you been reading those Roddy Doyle books again, Dougal!?

I was quite young when Doug was in his prime.

Watching some of the one-handed marks he was snaffling in this video was absolutely joyful.

I was pretty young during Dougie's prime days but he's still the best I've seen at one handed pick ups off the ground.
Remember him playing forward late in his career. Had a super football IQ.

    How good was Chris Grant!
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Yes I can live with that.

Didn't see much of EJ as I was a kid when he played his best.

    Will Minson.
    only joking.
Monty. I think at the end of '97 the souvenir shop at Whitten oval had a framed picture of 6 speccy's he'd taken that year alone.
