Yeah thought I’d make it more specific.

Re: Our Great WOOF Community
I went to Arden st when the Gasometer loomed over the ground. Did anyone else?
I only found out the other day what a gasometer actually does though. They sound pretty dangerous.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I use to go there is the 70s with mates, and funnily enough ended up living around the corner in the late 80's.

Yes, a number of times in the 60's and 70's. There used to be a greyhound track around the oval, but before my time.

Was the gasometer there when Led Zeppelin (?) played there? I think it was but I was more aware of the beautiful girls we had with us.

The best one I remember wasn't even a bulldog match. Friends of the family who barracked for Fitzroy used to take me if I couldn't convince anyone to take to see Footscray and when North were at the top of their game in the 1970s they took me to see North and Fitzroy at Arden street. Late in the last quarter North were miles in front when we decided that we'd beat the traffic and leave a bit early. We walked a few metres and Fitzroy kicked a few goals so we stopped a while and watched and North took over again, so we walked a few more metres and Fitzroy hit the front and then won the game as we carefully wandered around the outer pretending that we were leaving but we weren't really leaving because we'd worked out that fate was mucking as around!

So did I! I ended up living in Sutton street. Horrible bloody old tenement it was. It had an outside toilet and bathroom and was freezing.
Does anyone remember that fight Tony Mundine (Anthony's old man He could actually box though) had at Arden street? I reckon Tony was waving at a mate of his in the crowd when his opponent (A Mexican fighter I think) knocked him into the middle of next week with a punch that started from the floor, there were members of the crowd yelling trying to draw his attention to the bolo punch his opponent was about to throw...
Looked up the Mexican's name and I think it was Luis Manuel RodrĂ*guez
