    Momentum - a closer look

Momentum for one team then the other has always been around but our game against Carlton showed massive swings, both for us and twice against us playing the bottom team.

Speaking generally and not about the Carton game, how do you get momentum during a game? And if it's the other team with momentum, how do you defend it and try to stop the other team and turn momentum around?

In the old days, to stop momentum, you start a big fight. These days, I think one way is to slow the game down. Of course you need to gain possession and try not to give up the ball.

Does the 6/6/6 rule make for greater momentum swings?

I think it's certainly helped with the closeness of scores this year. Very hard to flood back like teams have done in the past to protect a lead

It can help but scoring hasn't increased.

We have been getting big scores kicked against us in the past few weeks.

Yes we have, however, I was more talking about the AFL has a whole and momentum in general to try and answer the OP.
