Match preview: Brisbane v Western Bulldogs

Where and when: the Gabba, Sunday August 4, 4.40pm
TV, radio and online: Click here for broadcast guide
What it means for Brisbane: With its spot in the finals now assured, the challenge is to lock down a top-four position. A seventh successive win would take the Lions one step closer to the double chance.
What it means for Western Bulldogs: Following last Sunday's thumping of Fremantle, the Bulldogs are now just percentage outside the top eight. An upset win over the Lions would keep them well and truly alive in their quest to reach September for the first time since the 2016 premiership season.
The stat: Brisbane has broken many hoodoos this season (West Coast, Sydney and Adelaide at the top of the list) and this is another chance. The Bulldogs have won the past five matches between the clubs, including all four under Chris Fagan's tutelage. The last time the Lions tasted success was the final round of the 2015 season when an eight-point victory helped them avoid the wooden spoon.
The match-up: Harris Andrews v Aaron Naughton
This pits one of the best defenders in the competition against one of the best young key forwards. Naughton had some success when the teams met in round eight, kicking 3.2 from 15 disposals in cold and windy Ballarat conditions.
It's a big week for: Any time you play your former club for the first time, it's a big deal, and that honour belongs to Marcus Adams on Sunday. Adams has now played four games in Brisbane colours after his off-season transfer from the Dogs.
Big call: A big day for 'The Bont'. Brisbane, like most teams, have trouble matching up on Marcus Bontempelli, who will kick three goals from 30 touches.
Prediction: Brisbane by 24 points

I fly up today. Managed to have some work to do up there and the AFL put on a footy match. Convenient.

Nick Riewoldt basically said on SEN this morning that if we can beat Brisbane, it will not only give us a solid run of form but teams will be dreading playing us in finals.

And then he fell over and cried.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

I heard it. He spat each word out about us making finals like they were torn out of his very soul.
No he didn't. Actually he was quite positive about us, much to my disgust.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

It’s funny. I may have some work to do in Sydney just after we play GWS there. Crazy days.

Re: WB Game Day V Brisbane R20 2019
Think we can win this weekend. Brisbane are certainly due a loss, and haven't been as good in the last couple with a close/fortunate win v North, and Hawthorn last week kicking 7.18 and not putting the scoreboard pressure on them when they were the clearly better side in the first half.
They keep winning, but maybe its this week that the young-team-late-season-slide starts.

Haha, we are younger than them by an average 20 games and a year per player - so no slides please

Re: WB Game Day V Brisbane R20 2019
forecast is going to be 24 and sunny, light breeze.
Astro to kick the winner after the siren from the boundary and avenge Beazer's miss 30 years ago. Oh and this will result in Scotty West seeking out Alistair Lynch and choking him.

Margin: Dogs by 2 points in a thriller and we keep our final chances alive
First Goal: Josh Schache
