Yes I remember that Swoop. Said how much he had enjoyed his mid field minutes although not huge....or words to the effect.

Re: Player Contract Status
Johannisen stays in red, white and blue
Jason Johannisen will extend his time at VU Whitten Oval after signing a new two-year deal to remain at the Western Bulldogs until at least the end of the 2024 season.
Taken with the 39th pick in the 2011 Rookie Draft, the 29-year-old has built a career spanning over a decade full of achievements and success.
Johannisen claimed the Norm Smith Medal during the 2016 Grand Final triumph, amassing 176 games and 70 goals over the journey so far.
The forward played eight games across 2022, with his impact limited due to injury, kicking eight goals and averaging 11 touches per game.
After ten years of affiliation with the Bulldogs, Johannisen was pleased to continue his journey at VU Whitten Oval.
“The Western Bulldogs is a really special place to me and I couldn’t be happier to get the chance to continue playing football here for the next few years,” Johannisen said.
“It’s a really positive time to be a part of this team, our list is exciting as we continue to strive for sustained success.”
“I’ve got lifelong friends here, I love pulling on the red, white and blue each week in front of our amazing supporters and fans.”
“I’m incredibly grateful to the club for having the faith in me throughout my career and into the future.”
Bulldogs General Manager – List & Recruiting, Sam Power was thrilled to have Johannisen sign on for a further two seasons.
“We’re really pleased to have Jason commit to the club for another two years,” Power said.
“Jason has played a variety of roles for the team over the past few years and his experience in the game will prove a valuable asset for the club moving forward.”
“He sets a high standard for himself on field and is much-loved by his teammates off it.”

If Hunter leaves, can JJ play wing?

Re: Player Contract Status
Say for argument sake Jones, Lobb, another trade, 4 picks = 7 spots need open
So JJ stays.
7:
1. Dunkley
2. Hunter?
3. Schache?
4. Butler?
5. Delist Martin move him to rookie list if he needs to be given a contract?
6 & 7…. Cordy? Wallis? Duryea?

Re: Player Contract Status
I'm kinda glad JJ is staying. Hate to see home grown rookies who made it big with us leave. Probably means he's on a salary that better matches his current output. He still offers enough to be best 22. If he can play a wing role that'd be great. Not certain he can but hey I'm rooting for him.

Re: Player Contract Status
JJ has assets that are rare and you can't teach. Speed and the ability for repeated sprint efforts which isn't something that our team does not have a lot of. I also thought that when it really mattered against Brisbane and Port in the finals last year he did a few things that were special that others could not have brought. He still has an X-Factor if his body is 100%.
Happy to see him sign on for a couple of more years.

The rookie list is full, we would have to delist Parker to open a spot (or trade a contracted rookie).

I doubt he finds it. I'm sure we'd help him if he did

Otherwise upgrade a rookie to the primary list but that doesn't help in opening a list spot.

Could all Wallis, Cordy & Duryea go then?
It’s looking very, very tight.
