Wow, this is great news. All reports had suggested Richmond would likely get pick 19.

If Elliott stays at Collingwood and Tomlinson falls to second round compo, that's a huge difference with no further interference other than pick 1 & 20 GCS compo.

Well if Brandon Ellis is only second round compo Elliott would be similar you would think. Tomlinson however as he plays for the plastics will probably get pick two !!!!

Really? You think Ellis can play? I think he'll be in struggle street up there. He's an OK link player in a great team take him out of that scenario and he's a very mediocre player. He's cashed in big time and is punching well above his weight. Good luck to him.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Could we possibly get a compo pick if Dickson goes to the Suns?

Agree he's basically won the lottery. Tigers, wow they're deserving of the flags in their years amazing system and consistency. They aren't a freakish team though.

Probably not. But the makey-upey compo system threw up an interesting one last year. Being Alex Fasolo. Collingwood got third round compo (Pick 57). He was an UFA with just a one year deal with another one trigger based on games played on something like $330,000 a season. But it was a one year contract officially, and yet compo was awarded. Fasolo was a bit younger, but Dicko has actually proven himself at the level. But... If another club offered Dicko a one year deal (and a trigger for another year or two years if he's moving interstate) at about $330,000+ (AFEL average wage is about $380,000) then I'd hope we'd be pressuring the AFEL for a third rounder (Pick 50).

But it's the AFEL, who gave Motlop first round and a very, very close Dahl deal as second round. So I have no faith about their consistency or transparency.

Is Dicko leaving, or is this theoretical?

It's not that I think he is a star but a 5 year deal at $600 reportedly surely the AFL compo swing is out of whack.

They’re a corrupt organisation that artificially engineers outcomes that it wants and cares little for the purity of the sport and being the custodian of the people’s game. Just another case of them doing what they want to. They can’t be trusted on this in particular. End compo picks would remove one area they can abuse.

He can’t play but Brandon is a good dude. Happy to see him secure the bag.

Shout out to the reigning premiers who officially complained to the AFEL that the Ellis compensation wasn't as generous as they'd hoped.

You scooped up Lynch and Prestia from the player nursery up north so maybe read the room before you sook.

Maybe this needs to be considered, rather than the blanket call to end all compensation picks.

Have you pillaged other teams superstars in the last x amount of years?
    Yes- No pick for you
    No- Apply the formula

Maybe the ‘Have you pillaged part’ has a $ based formula attached to it too. As in, if you get a $250,000 fringe player that nobody really cares about it doesn’t meet the threshold. But if you are bagging the big $$$ Lynch’s and O’Maera’s of the world- no pick for you.

    Update

We were very dissapointed with the offer of a 2nd Rd pick for Brandon Ellis and asked the @AFL
to review it. @AFL has since explained that the points allocated (based on age & average $$$), fell just short of the points required for the awarding of a 1st Rd pick in 2019.
    So, get stuffed Richmond.
