850k on the new contracts is probably okay for him. 750k from next year is nicer considering his injury history. Paid up front to avoid using draft picks but wonder if it will impact renegotiation with their current players?

If he tightens up their defence and can play competitively on the opposition key forwards they'll be happy enough but it's huge money for what he's done so far. Front loading it heavily means he will probably look for an early release if he plays well.

I?m sure they over paid, but if you want someone badly you usually do. If his contract is front loaded to that extent, and they had significant room under the cap they needed to soak up, it gives them a lot of flexibility post year 1 presumably and the cap will continue to rise. I think it?s a good addition for them tbh

Congrats to Essendon making it now 7000 days since a finals win . Awesome effort when you consider they have won the draft 20 years in a row under Dodoros list management.

That's great. How about a banner comemerating all of Dodo's trade week victories?

It’s not just Dodoro though , it takes a team effort .
I don’t think they have produced a true champion from their own development team since James Hird.

I don't know why they don't do the sensible thing and get Kevin Sheedy more involved.

He wanted to but didn’t like the coach . Couldn’t get his mate Hird in so they lost all his expertise except for stupid statements at board level.

For sure. What could possibly go wrong?

It's a shame that Josh Frydenberg has already got a gig. He's an Essendon supporter isn't he?

I'm sure if they asked nicely he could find some time and have an input into the club.

So the bombers had a loss of half a million this year and they still find a way to blame its fans .. we froze membership for a year .
With the amount of members they have it’s unbelievable how arrogant this board is.
If they froze membership and that’s the reason well it’s the boards fault for doing it !

    Re: Essendon

    Thats crazy they froze membership
Do you mean they stopped taking on paid members? Now is the time to collect members when your team is down . Its $$$ revenue , especially when they no chance of finals , so no pressure on attendance seats being available. Well the laat 7000 days is pretty good history.
