If this season's flame flickers out early, I will be able to take comfort in beating this mob and that this Twitter will likely go another 12 months (minimum).

I thought I'd brighten everyone's day with the following Stat.
Jake Stringer. Essendon V Westcoast 2020. 5 AFL fantasy points from 77%TOG.

That was a big game by Jakey.
4 actual possessions with no kicks and 50% of his disposals were effective.

Re: Essendon
I watched a lot of the game on and off and literally didn't think he was playing until I saw him walking from the ground fully kitted up.

Re: Essendon
He did feed out one good handball late in the game. I suspect injury interruptions and being away from his kids would be having a big impact too.
He's a very very good forward or an average mid. His focus seems, inexplicably, on being that average mid. I don't take much joy in his decline.
I do however take joy in Essendon being in no man's land. They have a huge number of players unsigned for next year too. I don't mind Hams as a player, with Mozzie and Walla I wonder if he'll start to struggle for opportunity next year.

Re: Essendon
Stringer returned from the break in the worst condition of any player in the league, after a really nice start to the year in Round One. He’s got no one to blame but himself.

He's not the first and won't be the last to completely waste enormous talent....although he did win a flag so maybe it wasn't completely wasted.
His career MAY have been salvaged if he went to any other team but the Bombers (Crows too). But it seems like there was little interest elsewhere and that probably says the most.

Word for word total agreement.
When he is actually right to play, I think he really brings team mates into the game as a forward.

Yeah he wasn't often sighted in our finals series but he did have some very important moments.
Look he's a guy who doesn't need much of the ball to have an impact but when he's having a bad day he is an absolute liability.

Tons of ability, but he is a lazy footballer. Wants the easy goals, won't put his body on the line and overall effort is not there.

3 goals in the 1st half v the Hawks suggests that he played his role. Stringer is a burst player. Nothing for 3 quarters and then the capacity to win a game on his own. Sadly though he just hasn't been able to do that often enough.
