No. Blight and before him it was Big Carl at Melbourne.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Blight was the last of the playing coaches (Schimma was captain), while Jezza was the last of the captain coaches.

Yep. Makes sense. Carl Ditterich was C/C of Melbourne before Jezza was C/C of St Kilda. I checked on AFLTABLES

I think you owe Bulldog4life an apology mate, he's not long for this world and it would really mean a lot to him.

Carlton assistant Ash Hansen was invited to take part in the Essendon coaching process, but declined. Hansen didn't feel the timing was right for him. Crossed to the Blues from the Dogs 12 months ago and will remain under Michael Voss at Ikon Park.

Nowhere near enough cloak and dagger in that approach for Ash to be interested.

Good of Ash to consider the timing of his move and respect his commitment to Carlton.

Re: Essendon
What happens to all Essendon's best laid plans, if nobody bothers to apply. You can have all the best thought out selection criteria, and all best selection processes; but it all falls down if nobody wants the job.
I guess they will settle for the default option, James Hird.
