Its a football club...
Would any of our players know who Dale Weightman was?
More of an In Bruges guy?

I bet he was weighed off-site behind the back of the club doctor and they lost the records.

There would be plenty around all footy clubs who remember Dale Weightman. and yes we do that with nicknames.
Why do you think Nathan Lyon became Garry or Gazza.
Australians are renowned for inventing nicknames but they re-use a lot for no other reason than they can. Weightman is just another example

That's why almost every Taylor gets the nickname Squizzy after a bloke that died almost 100 years ago.

Re: Welcome to the Western Bulldogs: Cody Weightman
Leon Cameron got called Baker after Essendon player Leon Baker for some reason. The only reason I can think is that he kicked both feet.
I remember being disappointed that we'd nickname one of our players after a player from another club. Particularly Essendon.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Pretty good debut, two goals and could have been three. Can see this kid being something special in the future.

He's got "something".
That second goal - that crumbing one - we've been crying out for that. Really, really promising signs.

X factor let’s hope we nurture it and don’t curb it.

Re: Welcome to the Western Bulldogs: Cody Weightman
But but but....he didn't lay a tackle! All forwards lay tackles right? That's all they talk about and that's all they focus on...…..surely?
Fact of the matter is he hit the scoreboard and could have been a game high scorer in a debut game. He's no Jason Tutt, sure, but he almost got there.
As an aside, Tutt got 26 touches and kicked four......and didn't get the rising star nomination. What a *!*!*!*!ing disgrace. It's literally the best debut of the modern era.

Really liked all of this post. The justified outrage about Tutt in particular.
Our coach, Paul Williams, really had the 'key' to Tutt's best work!!!
