I had a great friend that grew up in Melon st. We shared houses together for most of our early adult years.

I probably shouldn't say this but I got up one morning and Micky McLean was sitting in our loungeroom. My friend and I had a deal-if we woke up with someone that we didn't want to spend anymore time with, then we deposited them in the lounge room and left it up to the other person to let them down gently and show them the door. I'd done it a million times before, but this was Magic McLean man! He say's to me "Where did that girl go?" and I had to say "Sorry mate but she ain't coming back, it's time to go."

It was the only time that I said 'sorry'

Gary Merrington was a pretty good fullback and I would say the best of all 19s. (Sorry Luke )

Yes could play full forward too. I remember he kicked 4 or 5 goals in one of the night games comp that they used to hold for the teams missing out of the finals.

Dear old Chooka. Do you remember when he came charging out of defence bouncing the ball with a clearly flailing Peter Hudson struggling to keep up with him until Merrington took one too many bounces and the ball bounced back over his head straight into Hudson's arms who just turned around and ran into the open goal?

Merrington was the recruiter who organized to take Chris Grant at pick 105 too. It wouldn't have happened without Chooka being so proactive and Chris could have ended up anywhere.

Mark Komp came from Parkside. Played for us in the early eighties for about 20 games or so.

Max Cross who kicked 10 goals in a game and led our goalkicking came from Parkside too. And Sedat Sir, Michael Svilar and Stephen Power.

I know I have said this before but can we PLEASE not give this jumper to our first round draft pick? Instead, can we either:

a). Take it to the middle of the Whitten Oval and BURN IT - never to be used again.
b). Perform some kind of ritual 'cleansing' before using it EVER again.

This jumper should never, ever be seen again.
Does the presence of the great man Luke Beveridge - the only living Bulldog premiership coach change this numbers curse?

Was that premiership not the very 'cleansing' you are calling for?

    Ask Webby!
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.
