Maybe that's the idea but as soon as you put 44 competitive blokes on the field and say "good luck boys. This will be the only SOO game in the foreseeable future so whoever wins is the best SOO team for at least the next ten years. But don't be too competitive." They might say yes at first but the first time one of them gets knocked off the ball then their competitiveness will kick in and it will be on for young and old.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

A lot of players actually do care about their legacy and will want to play and play well.
Every year at the Hall of Fame, state games and medals - and All Australian awards handed out post 'carnival' - are offered up to justify the inclusion of a player. A lot of players want 'that'. If selection is seen by the players as 'fair' - and some are already unhappy at what they see as the bias of club coaches impacting on the sides - then they are going to have a real crack at this.
Ultimately it would be 'better' if this year was Vic vs SA and next year, Vic vs WA but whatchagonnado???
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Will be interesting when Toby Greene and the Bont line up in the same team. Might see a bit of 'Warwick Capper at the Bears' kind of vibe.

I heard Brad Hardie talking on 1278 about Capper's arrival at the Bears and his attempts to make friends with him. Took him to the TAB and Capper walks in and yells "Woza's here!" and Hardie thinks "Oh for *!*!*!*!s sake. This is Brisbane and nobody knows you"

3 player cap, per club wasn’t it?
I hope it’s a great game and FFS no injuries.

And I hope we can tag JJ out of the game. Go Vics!

Yep, 6 players each from Richmond and GWS.
Carlton, Essendon, Melbourne and Gold Coast with only 1 player named.

Shame we didn't get to see Jake 'Borderline Flying' Stringer stretch the Big V over his guts.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Ok. Three is way better than 6. Good to see the 'big' clubs have gun players dominating the squads.

As usual there are players picked on reputation not on form from last year.
