Jack Macrae says Tom Liberatore's return would make the Bulldogs "walk taller"

TOM LIBERATORE could be right in the mix for round two selection as the Western Bulldogs aim to bring back some intensity and fire around the midfield.

The Bulldogs were beaten comprehensively around the ball by Collingwood in round one, but the addition of Liberatore would make the team "walk taller", according to midfielder Jack Macrae.

"Obviously we talk about our intensity and hunger around the footy and he's (Liberatore) probably the number one player at the club when he's at his best and going," Macrae said.

"When we're at our best that's something that really stands out, our intensity around the ball."

Liberatore has completed all the training sessions since returning three weeks ago after battling persistent knee problems over the past two seasons.

The selection committee will have a few headaches when it comes to selecting the midfield group for round two with Liberatore, Toby McLean, Ed Richards, Patrick Lipinski and Lin Jong all healthy.

With Lachie Hunter suspended, Jong could be in the mix to grab a spot on the wing.

"There's a few winners out of the break … but for him (Jong) personally he had a long hamstring injury and he's back fully training now," Macrae said.

"He was training really well in pre-season so hopefully he can fit back into the mix and push for selection as well."

Young midfielder Rhylee West showed no signs of discomfort running in straight lines as he rehabilitates his PCL injury.

Tim English, Zaine Cordy, Roarke Smith and Taylor Duryea were away from the main group during Friday's session.

English did not participate in the warm-up but the Bulldogs said he would join training later on in the day.

Duryea was ruled out of round one with a groin injury but he has completed some sessions with the main group since the club returned to training.
