Great game from Easton last night. Really enjoyed that famous intercept marking he is known for.

Wood reminded me of the game he played round 1, 2016 against Freo. Well in particular that mark with the flight of the ball. Good things happened that year.

North played into our hands the other night with their delivery into their forward line and Wood was there waiting licking his lips. I'm sure he will gain a lot of confidence with his performance like that.

It is probably a combination of a number of things - ie. Keath, body, free of captaincy, pressure through the midfield.... But I actually think Easton finished last year quite strongly, was one of the few that played ok in the final and also in our shocker v Collingwood round 1. I think it was mentioned in another thread that he finished higher in the B&F than most would have expected so obviously the coaches were valuing his contributions last year.

Wood is a fantastic player. He can make our defence look impregnable at times.

    Great thread

Looked super - I thought he was one of our best against Collingwood also and seems to have used the time off to get himself super fit.

Was that the best game Easton's played in three-odd years?

Brazenly launching himself at anything and everything, including the back of poor Keath's scone at one point.

Some newfound confidence in the body and a better staffed + better organised backline crew around him just the tonic. He's a genuine weapon when playing in this vein, welcome back Woody.

We forget how good he was during 2015-2016.

I thought he was pretty solid last year, especially in the second half of the season.

It's also hard to believe that at one time, we tried to turn Wood into a forward.

I'd say perhaps as much as 5 years
Maybe the stop start nature of this season has put him into the best shape he's been in since 2015

I liked the effort to launch on top of Goldy's head. Didn't get near it, but the intent was ominous.

Yep experimenting obviously Easton is the best behind the ball as is JJ.

There’s a renewed spirit, a light in his eyes I haven’t seen since 2016. He looks fit, he looks agile, he looks excited to be out there.
I really hope his body holds up. A massive cog in our defence.
I will never see #16 the same!!
