Matt Scharenberg has signed for my local club the mighty Olinda/Ferny Creek Bloods. Now that's a major surprise & a coup for the club. Wow!!

    Great pick up.
Thought he was good enough to get an invite to train at AFL level, assuming he hasn’t.

Looks like you’re just up the mountain. He clearly doesn’t mind the cold then.

So Scharenberg will play with the best home ground advantage there is.

Worth a shot for the Saints. Clearly has ability, does he want it enough and can he stay on the park?

Late to this thread, but I never thought I'd see so many references to the Dandenongs on this site! (I grew up in Silvan, went to school with kids from Olinda / Mt D)

Underage footy in the mountains at 10 AM Saturday mornings wasn't great on the fingers

I don’t think he does to be honest. He looks like a superstar but he’s the most one sided player in the AFL and can’t find the ball on his own. He doesn’t seem to have it in him to harvest his athletic gifts.

Tell me about it. Got a corkie at Olinda once. Didn’t have to ice it.

I always thought he was just a touch short for his style of play (192cm).
He's been an "almost" footballer for his career, so frustratingly close to making it. Has talent.
