Re: 2020 Player movement
We'd be insane to hand over a first round draft pick of any type for Goldstein. He's is 32. If we've made bad trades in the past few years then you don't fix it by overpaying for a 32 year old ruckman. Ruckmen fall over the edge all of a sudden. Look at Minson.
Stay the course with English.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

What did Saints pay for Ryder?

I would like to think we do not part with a first round pick for a 32yo. However we can stay the course and keep Tim and give him more support. Look what Bucks did on weekend. And Ratten. Relief for their young or young and developing rucks.
I really like Bevo but I think he needs to rethink his approach to the ruck. And Grant and other senior folks at a Club should conduct a review too. We are not too far off but I fear we will be in a never ending “almost but never top 4, might make top 8 but not win more than 1 or maybe 2 finals” holding pattern. It is time for a few Qs to be asked about an approach that is not working - and hoping the AFL ceases with the no 3rd man up rule is not a sound plan.

Was a package deal for he and Howard with some pick swaps. Essentially a pick in the teens.
Ryder and Howard have been traded to St Kilda in a deal that sees the Power receive picks 12 and 18 at November’s NAB AFL Draft along with the Saints’ future third round selection.
Port Adelaide will also send pick 10 and a future fourth-round selection to Moorabbin.
Edit: 12 and 18 for Ryder, Howard, and pick 10 and swap of third and fourth rounder means they either got Ryder or Howard for next to nothing? That's some decent trading. They went up 12 to 10, and swapped 18 for Howard and Ryder.

Was 10 used for Hill?

I 100% agree. Goldy is NOT the answer. We lost because we didn't take our opportunities

Thanks.
I wanted us to get Howard FWIW.

We got outmuscled by gws in 2019 in the ruck
We got done by saints this year in the ruck
Goldy or not we need a ruckman that is just as good or better to help out Tim.
In 2016 we had Boyd and Roughead , and they were Phenomenal in the finals
Coaches don’t be stubborn ... there is a glaring GAP, come finals time oppositions drive a truck through it !

Other than getting Templeton back for 2021 what is your ruck strategy for 2021 & 2022?
More of an In Bruges guy?

2016
West Coast Final - WC 52 to 30
Hawks Final 52 to 35
GC prelim 58 to 40
GF 42 to 40
So we basically got smashed in the Finals except the GF. Swans hardly had the greatest ruckman playing in Naismith and Tippett.
Just proves, rucks are over rated.

No it doesn't.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.
