This isn't two Shane Mumfords we're talking about here, I would be down to field 22 of them.
Forget his age or that he's only a stop gap or whatever, getting Goldstein will get the best out of English (and the rest our our midfield, which is where ALL of our good players play) right now, and put English in the best possible position to be a great ruckman in the longer term.
But it might be for Bevo and he's a stubborn bastard.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Well maybe you misunderstood my posts, that show hitouts isn't everything.
I have said consistently all along we need a good second ruck, but in my opinion they need to be mobile and as you say do more around the ground and not lumber along.

Which is what we are saying, Tim English is perfect for that. Mobile? Tick. Do stuff around the ground? Tick. Not lumber? Tick.
Recruit him as your second ruck, and find someone who can be your main ruck. Bam, instant good ruck division.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

I agree.
The original response is lost in translation.
My issue is who we can get for this role, as I can't see a Goldy leaving North.

I think McEvoy is the best option. Will be cheap, is an effective ruck, good contested mark and able to drop back in the role English plays, and seems to be a good guy. Ceglar I guess is also decetn at all those things, and is decent at ground level (although not even close to as smooth a English).
Nankervis is the other good option, although Soldo's knee injury makes him harder to target.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Zac Smith ? Not getting a look in at Suns due to Witts, I thought he has showed some good signs at the Cats previously. He's 30 though. Not sure, could be a cheap stop gap for a couple of seasons.

Reason: Changed Fisher to Smith.

I would be aiming for something a bit more complex, where we trade our first rounder this year (pick 12) and probably something else of value (second rounder next year?) + maybe a Schache or Young or Lipinski and we get back Goldstein, pick 25 and another pick in the 20's they get for selling one of their other 5 decent players.
Pick 25 + any pick from pick 34 forwards is worth more draft points than 12 so helpful for JUH, so losing 12 is no real loss. So effectively you'd be getting Goldstein for a fringe guy we don't really rate plus a future 2nd, while they get a first rounder for Goldstein.
Win win no?
This I like. I'll subscribe to your newsletter good sir

I think you mean Zac Smith. Can't have too many Smiths. Get Isaac as well and see if Cameron wants to convert from rugby league?

Re: 2020 Player movement
Zac Fisher isn't the worst idea btw. That high half forward/midfielderish type. He is lively, applies good pressure and is generally pretty good with his ball use, and only played 8 games this year for Carlton so could be tempted. He is very small and slight though.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Can Goldy help us take the next step and help us finish top 4 while he's here? If yes I'm all for it.
Tbh I don't think Bevo is going to go for this at all.
I'm as close as I can be that Bevo does not want to bring in a number 1 ruckman and replace English or move him to the forward line
As good as Goldy is, he can only be used one way and that is around 85 to 90% as the first ruck
McEvoy might tempt him but I think that is a longshot as well

I can't see it happening either.
What other options are there?
Pruess - but would have to guarantee him maybe 50% time in the ruck?
2MP - Can he ruck?
Not many options out there.
