Would Zaine Cordy get a third or fourth round pick anywhere?
He didn’t have the best year but letting the ball over the back 3-4 times in a final where we absolutely cannot allow that to happen may have hurt him.

Re: 2020 Player movement
I'd actually enquire about Mason Cox as I've said previously.
Realistically we aren't getting Goldstein or McEvoy, mainly because of cost and the fact that we're hell bent on English as our #1. There's no point getting in a mature state leaguer - we have Sweet for that - so the next best option is to recruit a solid second ruck who can offer us something elsewhere.
Cox fits the description.
He's a polarising figure but I actually really like the appeal. He simply doesn't get outmarked which happens to us FAR too bloody often, even with Bruce and Naughton. He can also take his turn in the ruck and he's pretty damn mobile at his size.
Armchair experts like to take pot shots at Cox but while he's inconsistent and no world beater, in the right context I think he's a good option - particularly in a forward line that HAS other options (i.e. Naughton). Problem for Collingwood is that they wanted him to be their #1 forward.
Pros:
- He doesn't get outmarked
- He can play multiple positions (FF/RUCK)
- He's a reliable kick for goal
- He's mobile
- He has some swagger which our group actually needs
Cons:
- Age, think he might be early 30s
- Inconsistency, he can go missing for large periods
- Marking is really inconsistent
- He can have some brain fades in regards to decision making

He will be 30 in March next year.
I think it is worthwhile asking about him as Collingwood are open to trade.
I wonder what he would cost us?

Re: 2020 Player movement
Mason Cox is a better option than Peter Wright.
More of an In Bruges guy?

Well it would be pretty fun. But we are getting Goldstein so you've built a house on quicksand with your first sentence my guy.

That's OK, for some reason I thought he was already 31/32.
Cost would be interesting. I doubt it would be too much given Collingwood's salary cap squeeze, but I'm not sure if he's contracted / how much he's on. They also need to get games into Cameron (and Kelly), and they can't play Cameron/Cox together so I think they'd be happy to offload Cox.

He was in the last year of his contract this year. However he had a games based trigger for an extra year which he achieved this season. So I'm not sure how that works in terms of a potential trade. He's technically not out of contract but if he wanted to move could he decline the extra triggered year?
EDIT: It seems he is contracted. He's on 550k at collingwood.

Re: 2020 Player movement
If Mason Cox comes to the Dogs, that's it I'm out. Not really. But maybe.

If you're still a supporter after Justin Charles you won't have any issues with big Cox.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Are you just a little interested in potentially seeing a Bulldogs version of Twins starring Mason Cox and Caleb Daniel?

Re: 2020 Player movement
Cox probably isn't as bad as many make out but my queries are:
1. Can he ruck? He pretty much never plays in the ruck for Collingwood any more. I think he used to a few years back.
2. How does he fit into our forward line mix? I'm not sure you can play Bruce, Cox and Naughton together. Our forward pressure is already lacking.
3. Do we really want to pay him upwards of $500k per season?

LOL.
I love the idea of Cox at the Dogs so much. It will reinforce the oft stated opinion of a "once upon a time" poster:
"You are not finished as a footballer until you have been recruited to play Full-Forward for Footscray".
- And yes, Josh Bruce, I'm looking at you! :-)
"Bulldogs 2021.
Schache. Bruce. Cox. Feel the Excitement."
The marketing department can use that on their car stickers...I don't need to be credited.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Re: 2020 Player movement
Matt Rendall suggested Cox to bulldogs, Grundy to Swans, Cameron to Pies and Moore to ruck
