Significantly better % and also smashed us in the regular season. Beat more top 8 teams than us also.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

They beat Richmond and Port and we beat WC .

At the end of the day with all their imports, they should have done better.

Why would we be chasing a guy (Lonie) no one other than maybe the basket case that is Norf would even consider as a target. Surely we have bigger ambitions than becoming St.Kilda from 2019.

I mean, not so much them as a club but moreso the players mentioned. I’d love to have all of Gresham, Butler and Billings and looking to bring in Higgins. I suppose seeing them actively pursue list needs vs our stubbornness to stick fat with what hasn’t worked for so long. Oh and to top it all of have to deal with speculation of one of our best wanting to leave.

Exactly, and we will probably give a pick 30+ to get him. I don’t rate him AT ALL, but I don’t rate Hannan either, and we will get him, so we might as well go full hog and get Lonie to keep him company at Footscray.

Agree, they went aggressively last year to get Butler, Howard, Hill and Ryder. 3 had outstanding years.

Now they’re linked with Crouch and possibly Higgins. These are all guys brought in to play specific roles, and holes they had in their list.

    We could only dream.

I can't agree with this statement.

Last year we brought in Keath and Bruce, two tall KP players. Before that we brought in LLoyd and Duryea trying to bolster goal kicking and defense and inject some experience into the team. Before that was Suckling and Trengove. We have our fair share of players from other clubs.

Ruckman aside, we seem to get fascinated in filling a position we are perceived to be weak at

Lonie is an OK player but I doubt he makes us much better. Couldn't West or Garcia fill that role for us?

I would only chase a player for the role if he was a star, like a Charlie Cameron.

Sure, we've chased for positional need but the missing context here is that Keath's the only one in that mix his previous club might've liked to keep - the rest largely surplus to requirements - and despite our best efforts (Wingard, Martin, et al) we haven't quite prised a Dunkley out of anywhere, yet.

I don't understand the Lonie interest either. To me he seems like a younger but similar version of a Sam Lloyd, whereas Richmond's Higgins would offer an X factor to our forward line that is missing.

It is not that we haven't tried which is what BTT is suggesting.

They came from well behind us and jumped ahead of us in 1 season. They are not standing still and are looking to add more quality through the doors so we need to get much better in the off season just to keep level with them, let alone have any hope of catching the top 4 from this year.
