The answer is in the article above:
The Herald Sun understands under the current illicit drugs code Crouch appears certain to be handed a strike by the AFL given the code operates 12 months a year.
Off-season testing is only hair-testing used for research and target-testing of players, but if a player is caught with drugs or makes admissions about their use it is the AFL’s decision about whether to hand out a strike.

I wonder if this is his first strike? Second strike? Third strike?
Any club signing him is taking a big gamble.
More of an In Bruges guy?

That’s weird for him to say that, the police have already diverted them to counselling (as opposed to sending them to court). Apparently this is what they do for first offences on the more minor scale to stop clogging up the courts.
As an aside, Carlisle also allegedly received a strike for his preseason indiscretion.

Essendon desperately need that type.
I agree, he is the type of player that they should have been targeting for years and would be a good fit for them.
Hopefully they pay over the reported $750k too!

I doubt he goes to Essendon, unless he 'illicit substances' found are a combination of acid and mushies and he takes both just before Essendon pitch him.
Even Essendon players don't want to play for Essendon right now.

...also targeting players they actually need is not really their MO.

Stengle in trouble again. Allegedly photographed with "an amount" of drugs. I get that it's hard when you have a drug problem to keep away/say no. I've not always been blameless myself (to put it mildly. I was an out and out drug slut) I understand that often it's not even a decision you make, shit happens and there you are in the vicinity of drugs.
But, for the love of God you can control having your photo taken with them. Am I being too harsh? Is the fact that everyone has a camera on their person made it all but inevitable that someone is going to sneak a photo of you for whatever reason?

They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Very silly, could be career over for him.
Crows having a good day - Josh Worrall caught drink driving and using his mobile.

Ouch! Although Worrall's timing sounds like it is impeccable though. If you're gonna get pulled over doing that then the day your higher profile teammate gets caught doing this is the right day to do it.

The phone isn't actually the problem.
It is the always on webcam that is the problem. It is coincidental that they seem to have a phone attached, because the phone is hardly used as an actual telephone.
