Couldn't we just pay our 600k per year, and if the Pies chose to pay 0, 0, 500k, 500k, 500k then that's their choice/problem?
Clearly Collingwood needed some agreement from us to help them out of a big hole. Possibly they are at their limit for 2021 due to the Beams debacle, meaning we are probably funding the whole $900K next year, but getting some relief over the remainder.
It might even give us an extra $100K to massage into contracts for Bont/Baz/Dunks for the following years

But I'm not really choosy. It can be any of the years he plays with us.
Why settle for that in only one of his years?

What would make it sweeter is us winning the next five flags and Collingwood being the runner up each time.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Soon with more time on his hands hoping we see PG post on here more often.

Re: Welcome to the Westernbulldogs Adam Treloar
Interestingly The Age reporting Pies are paying 1 over 5, not 1.5.
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/...11-p56mtl.html
One month after Adam Treloar was traded from Collingwood to the Western Bulldogs an agreement has been reached that will see close to $1 million of the midfielder's contract carried in the Magpies' salary cap over the next five years.
Industry sources said it is unclear exactly how the Magpies will distribute the money - which amounts to an average of about $200,000 per year

As long as we don’t pay anymore than 600k a year over 5, Collingwood can chop it up all they like.

It suggests we are paying 700 to me?

Unless Treloar is taking a slight pay cut ($600,000 & $200,000). If his manager stuffed up, there might be some fine details about fee waiving too, adding to Treloar’s bottom line which if 10% would get him to around $900,000. The article doesn’t say we are paying more, just that Collingwood is paying $200,000.

All the reporting this week has suggested the Bulldogs have held firm and won't be paying anything more than what we agreed to at the time of the trade.

The problem with this, is that we don't and won't really know.
Until player contracts are public we are required to assume that every club is treated fairly by the league administration.
Hard to expect trust when they continue to act secretly.

No disagreement from me. Transparency of contracts is long overdue.

Re: Welcome to the Westernbulldogs Adam Treloar
I suspect that the figures being mentioned are vastly closer to the 300K a season average than what the Age have reported but there has to be a fair chance we have conceded a bit otherwise there wouldn't have been any delays with getting the deal completed earlier.
It really doesn't matter now, Treloar will be playing with us, the Pies will be contributing a substantial amount and the challenge for the footy department is to come up with one of the strongest and productive midfield units in the competition.
