Go Doggies although Bitches is more correct biologically, it has developed a second meaning.

We do seem to have monopolised the market in Issy/Izzy.

A bit like our initial foray into Bailey's on the mens team.

    Re: AFLW - 2021 Team

Hopefully Issy Grant will get a debut this season.

We still have a very young list and with the loss of McCarthy I'm worried about our midfield mix. Blackburn and Lamb are stars but have a very heavy load to carry, and opposition sides knew that if they tagged Ellie then we struggled. I'm not sure that was addressed in the off season, although Newton and some others might develop into pure mids. I'm also keen to see Dani Marshall's development, she was great in her first season over from the US.

I don't watch any junior women's footy, so looking forward to seeing what our draftees can offer us during the season.

The Mongrel Punt site has a preview up:

    https://themongrelpunt.com/aflw/2021...s-and-dockers/

12th place finish is the prediction which really isn't what I was hoping to see!
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Think it’s probably fairly realistic. There’s talent but it’s a pretty young team all up. We lost a lot of top end talent (and Katie Brennan) to the expansion clubs. I do think there’s space for a team to gel quickly and take a leap in the W, but I’m not 100% convinced in the coach either.

I was a Brennan fan but realistically what has she done apart for spending time on the side lines. Which that's not her fault but in games she has played she been average at best. The best thing she did for us is give us a high draft pick when she nicked off.

Emma Kearney and Jenna Bruton were bigger losses. I agree we got pillaged by the expansion.

    RICHMOND v WESTERN BULLDOGS
A final-quarter flurry from the Western Bulldogs resulted in a 14-point victory over an improved Richmond, winning 6.7 (43) to 3.11 (29).

Dogs skipper Ellie Blackburn spent portions of the match playing deep forward, and finished with two goals, while Brooke Lochland ran hard in the midfield and kicked two of her own.

All Australian defender Izzy Huntington played up forward, while Jess Fitzgerald, taken with pick No.2 in the draft, found plenty of the footy playing on the ball. Issy Grant, who missed all of 2020 with a toe injury, showed some dash off the flanks.

The Tigers, who did not win a game in their first season, were noticeably more organised in their structures, particularly behind the ball, with recruit Harriet Cordner anchoring the backline.

Fellow recruit Sarah D'Arcy did not play, but has been earmarked for an intercepting role across half-back after playing as a key forward for Collingwood.

The first pick in October's draft, Ellie McKenzie, showed her class when she came on in the second half, while as always, Monique Conti had the ball on a string.

    WESTERN BULLDOGS 0.0 1.4 1.5 6.7 (43)
    RICHMOND 2.5 2.6 2.9 3.11 (29)

    GOALS
    Richmond: Wakefield 2, Bernardi
Western Bulldogs: Blackburn 2, Lochland 2, Van Oosterwijck, Berry
