There’s using handball as a weapon and then there’s being too over reliant on it.

Easy 50+ point win for the reserves side. I thought Cavarra was BOG, and Marra was lively with a couple of goals, a few marks and 3 or 4 screamer attempts that almost stuck.

It's also conceptually bizarre that while 360° play action swirls around him one bloke now has to fight every instinct he owns and just prop like a statue.

Quite genuinely, for those that watched, did the new rule seem to have an effect on opening up the game for greater scoring as it was intended or is it looking like another crash and burn from Steve Hocking?

Crash and burn from Hocking.

Without being biased about rule changes, I couldn't see how it has enhanced the game. In fact it has made it worse seeing a man on the mark like a statue.

This happens at the start of every year, it's that training difference between training drill runs with no pressure and playing against an opposition. This is where they need to get a bit more selfish and run and draw the player in so that when you give it off your teamate is free, rather than amble along and expect them to be free because it's so easy to predict.
