I was stunned to see he couldn’t find a place for Cordy - he’s always been a big fan

Take out Hannan, put Bazlenka on the bench and Treloar in starting 18.

One that hasn't been mentioned is McLean. If he can get back to the form he was showing prior to injury last year, I can see him sneaking into the 22 (replacing Roarke in mine).

Re: After 12 rounds what is our best team if no injuries

How many absolute locks are there in the best 22?

    B: ...... Keath ......
    HB: Dale ....... Williams
    C: Treloar Macrae Daniel
    HF: Hunter Naughton ......
    F: English Bruce ......
    R: Martin Bont Libba
    IC: Dunkley ....... ...... ......

So I'm saying there are 8 slots up for grabs:

Back pockets x2 - Duryea, Wood, Crozier, Khamis, Will Hayes
I am choosing Duryea and Wood, but I fully expect Croz to play a lot more games this season. I think Caleb, JJ, Richards could also move through this role.

    CHB - Gardner, Cordy, Young
I vote for Gardner. I thought he was serviceable at the start of the year, and his extra athleticism outweighs Zaine's extra aggression. There is potential for both to play alongside Keath, with one less 'small', but I'm still not convinced that this is the right way for us.

HFF - Hannan, JJ, JUH, Richards, Schache, Bedendo
I'm not 100% convinced by Hannan yet, but I still think his combination of marking power and ferocity at the ball/opponent help him hold his spot. I had originally thought JUH needed to push out one of English/Naughton/Bruce to get a game, but maybe he can take the Hannan role if he can sustain a high level of forward pressure.

FP - Weightman, VDM, Wallis, Cavarra, West
Cody has ticked every box we wanted a small forward to tick in the past month. If he maintains this, nobody gets that spot off him.

Int - I think decent balance is to have 1-2 midfield rotations (depending on who is on-field), plus a couple of others who can play a few roles.
So with Dunkley in 1 of the midfield roles:
IC Mid - Bailey Smith, Jong, Lipinski, Garcia
Baz gets the gig ahead of the mythical creature that is a fully fit Jong, but he needs to find a way to get his head back in the game. I hope he's being supported to work through whatever block he is facing at the moment, because a Baz who loves the contest is a huge asset. Given he is mostly playing on a wing in this fully fit side, you could even make a case for Roarke getting a game ahead of him in that role.

IC 3 & 4 - Vandermeer, Scott, Mcneill, JJ, Mclean, Richards, Crozier, Roarke and others
Vandermeer's end to 2020 and few games this season were electric. If he is fit and can provide that level of pace and enthusiasm, he will form a great a partnership with Weightman. I can see him being part of a wing/half-forward rotation with Hunter and the resting mids.
Scott has proven to be an essential part of our mix. He is very team oriented, applies good levels of pressure and seems to be very mentally focussed. He also takes his opportunities in front of goal when they present. There is every chance that Mclean, Richards or someone of that ilk knock him out, but I quite like the idea of having him or Roarke Smith in that final slot.
I don't like JJ as a forward. His best chance at getting in my best 22 is if Dale or Caleb get injured.
I thought Richards was average in 2020, but he played every game so won't be surprised to see him come straight back in.
Mclean has some elite traits, and if he were truly full fitness he would be in my side ahead of Scott, but I'm not sure we will get a fully fit Mclean this year.

    B: Wood Keath Duryea
    HB: Dale Gardner Williams
    C: Treloar Macrae Daniel
    HF: Hunter Naughton Hannan
    F: English Bruce Weightman
    R: Martin Bont Libba
IC: Dunkley Bailey Smith Vandermeer Scott

    Sub: Roarke
    Emg: Crozier, Richards, Mcneill
